Abstract: A method by which an environmental energy (e.g., wave energy) is harvested, converted into electrical power, and thereafter used to electrolyze seawater into hydrogen and chlorine gases. Those gases are recombined into hydrogen chloride from which is formed hydrochloric acid solution which is diluted and deposited at a depth sufficient to ensure its neutralization and sequestration for a significant period of time (e.g., for over a millennium). By removing chloride ions from a portion of the sea adjacent to its upper surface and depositing them into a portion of the sea more adjacent to its bottom, acidity is shifted from the surface to base of the sea, and the surface ocean is given a greater ability to absorb and buffer atmospheric carbon dioxide without a corresponding increase in acidity.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for seawater reverse osmosis controls mixing units to perform a first stage treatment of a liquid stream by adding a first set of chemical compounds to obtain a first liquid stream. The apparatus controls an ultrafiltration unit to perform a first stage purification by removing a first set of impurities to obtain a second liquid stream. The apparatus also controls a reverse osmosis (RO) membrane unit to remove a second set of chemical compounds by passing the second liquid stream through the RO membrane. The RO membrane outputs at least one of an RO brine stream and an RO permeate stream. The apparatus also controls an ion exchange unit to remove a third set of chemical compounds from the RO permeate stream to obtain a filtered liquid stream, and the apparatus stores the filtered liquid stream.

One example method of desalinating ocean water includes providing a structure having a reverse osmosis membrane affixed to a first end, submerging the structure to a depth in a reservoir of salt water, wherein the depth is a function of a critical pressure of activation of operation of the reverse osmosis membrane, allowing a hydrostatic pressure at the depth to force salt water from the reservoir through the reverse osmosis membrane to cause fresh water to accumulate within a cavity on an inside of the structure; and making the fresh water available for an external use.

Abstract: A reverse osmosis desalination system has a combined displacement pump and displacement pressure recovery motor that propagate feed water with a structurally fixed recovery rate and structurally stabilized volume flow through continuously alternating discharging and recirculation intervals. Thereby enabled is an instantaneous discharge of the entire feed water concentrate and unmixed replacement with low salinity source water that intermittingly and effectively flushes the reverse osmosis membranes. This in turn provides for high recirculation peak salinity and recovery rate that are simple and reliably controlled without impairing membrane longevity.

Abstract: A method and system for the offshore production of fuel includes an offshore marine platform on which is mounted an ammonia production unit. The ammonia production unit may produce ammonia utilizing raw materials sourced adjacent the marine platform, including seawater and electricity from offshore wind turbines. The produced ammonia may be subsequently liquified and transported away from the marine platform, or conveyed to a remote location via a seabed pipeline. A portion of the hydrogen produced as part of the ammonia production process may be utilized to operate onboard combustion turbines that can in turn drive electric generators onboard the marine platform to produce electricity.

The system includes several devices operating separately in many different applications in energy sectors, Also, included is alternative use for the In-Line-Pump for marine crafts propulsion.

Abstract: The present invention provides a device for carbon dioxide recovery from alkaline water using a module having at least three compartments where each compartment is separated by an electrode pair (anode and cathode) with electrochemical reactions occurring at the electrodes. The electrodes can be in a unipolar or bipolar configuration. Multiple electrochemical modules can be electrically connected in series, in parallel, or in a combination of both series and parallel. Abstract: In a general aspect, a system can include a reactor for combusting fuel and producing high-temperature, high-pressure liquid as a byproduct, and at least one vessel defining a cavity to be partially filled with water, with an air pocket within the cavity above the water. The system can further include respective valves to control admission of liquid from the reactor into the air pocket when the air pocket has a pressure lower than an operating pressure of the reactor, and to control emission of the water from the at least one vessel through of the vessel after the water in the at least one vessel has been pressurized by the liquid from the reactor. The system can also include a hydroelectric drive system for receiving water emitted from the cavity, and for converting energy in the received water into electrical energy.
