Abstract: The present invention relates to an adhesive and more particularly to a moisture curable adhesive. In one embodiment, the present invention includes a moisture curable adhesive comprising a polymer or copolymer including reactive silicon end groups; from about 0.01 to about 40 percent by weight of a clear filler that will not substantially interfere with the clarity of the adhesive; and from about 0.01 to about 10 percent by weight of a dehydrating agent. In another embodiment, the present invention includes a moisture curable adhesive comprising a copolymer including a reactive silicon group; from about 33 to about 85 percent by weight of a filler; and from about 0.01 to about 10 percent by weight of a dehydrating agent. The present invention is further directed to a method of joining two adherends.

Abstract: The present invention provides a curable composition containing an organic polymer having a crosslinkable silicon group, the composition having sufficient usable life and having adhesive properties with respect to an adherend (substrate) that are equivalent to those of the case where aminosilane is included. The composition comprises: (A) a crosslinkable silicon group-containing organic polymer; and (B) a crosslinkable silicon group-containing compound that forms, by means of light, at least one type of amino group selected from the group consisting of primary amino groups and secondary amino groups. The crosslinkable silicon group-containing organic polymer (A) is preferably at least one type selected from the group consisting of crosslinkable silicon group-containing polyoxyalkylene polymers and crosslinkable silicon group-containing (meth)acrylic-based polymers.

Abstract: A method and kit for forming a seal around a roof penetration is disclosed. The method comprises dispensing a one-part moisture curable sealant into pitch pan formed around a roof penetration. The one-part moisture curable sealant contains a polymer having non-terminal silane groups. The incorporation of non-terminal silane groups can provide for a greater number of crosslinking points than terminal silane groups. The non-terminal silane groups can be placed at specific points along the polymer backbone and the number of crosslinking points, or concentration of crosslinking units, can be controlled. Generally, as the crosslinking points can be provided along the polymer chain, the number of crosslinking points is increased, especially as compared to polymers only having terminal silane groups. Increasing the number of crosslinking points can result in improved elasticity and cure-through as compared with silyl-terminated polymers, in addition to other advantages.
