    Abstract: A safety device for preventing accidental unrolling of a rolling shutter or overhead door comprising a cogwheel which has uniformly distributed on the circumference opening outward for containing radially movable tumblers, a cage which surrounds the cogwheel that contains an abutment in the form of a recess for the tumblers which are raised by the action of centrifugal force. Upon reaching a predetermined rotational speed, the tumblers engage an abutment in the cage and the cage acting as a brake is then driven by the cogwheel and slowed down by friction.

    Abstract: An operating and speed control mechanism for revolving doors features an improved gearing arrangement which makes possible a gear ratio of reduction between the drive motor shaft and door shaft far greater than any gear reduction heretofore attainable, even when using a greater number of gears in the allotted space. Additionally, the improved gear transmission renders the mechanism even more compact than the most favorable prior art arrangements in the interest of satisfying more stringent architectural requirements in the installation of revolving doors. Unexpected benefits provided by the improved and simplified gearing are increased braking efficiency and extra braking force from a small centrifugal brake assembly, and greater and more efficient lubricant circulation in the mechanism for the purposes of brake surface wetting and general lubrication and cooling of the mechanism. A unique mechanism cover plate provides a magnetic flux return path allowing one-half of the permanent magnet motor to be eliminated and thereby rendering the mechanism further compact in its critical vertical dimension.

    Abstract: The output shaft of a motor is connected directly to a worm shaft which moves a traveler connected to the door. The motor includes a second centrifugal switch in the relay coil circuit whereby the motor will stop upon the door engaging stops in either direction. The worm shaft includes a length of spiral wire locked in place on thin wall tubing rectangular in cross section. The method of producing the worm shaft includes placing the length of spiral wire on a length of cylindrical tubing and then applying pressure to the tubing between adjacent coils causing corners to be formed which lockingly engage the wire coils. A predetermined axial force in either direction on the motor will cause the motor to move relative to the traveler and actuate an interrupter switch and a reversing switch thereby stopping the motor. Upon the relay coil being reactivated the motor will then move in the opposite direction to the end of the cycle where it will then shut off and be ready to repeat the cycle.

    Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for permitting or preventing a panel from closing an opening within a wall. A hinge secures the panel to the wall for pivoting the panel relative to the opening. The apparatus comprises an inverted generally u-shaped frame defining a slot for positioning to the panel. A bar member includes a first end and a second end. A fulcrum pivot is interposed between the first end and the second end for pivotably mounting the bar member to the inverted generally u-shaped frame. The fulcrum pivot pivots the bar member between a generally vertical position and a generally horizontal position. The bar member pivots to the generally vertical position for disengaging the second end from the wall for permitting the panel to close the opening of the wall. The bar member pivots into the generally horizontal position for engaging the stopper end with the wall for preventing the panel from closing the opening of the wall.
