Abstract: A pump having a rotary portion which compels the movement of a fluid by peristaltic compression of resilient tubing containing the fluid includes a roller assembly having at least one roller mounted in the rotary portion of the pump for contact with the resilient tubing. The roller has a range of rotation in contact with the tubing during pump operation. A roller control mechanism is adapted and constructed to stop the roller at a single, predetermined location on the tubing when the pump operation is stopped.

Abstract: A volumetric pump for administering intravenous fluids to a patient comprises a housing having an elongate cavity therein with an open and a closed end. A resilient sheet of material having a centrally-located aperture covers the open end, and a pump shaft is slidably disposed through the aperture to form a sphincter seal therebetween. An inlet conduit leading from a fluid source (an IV bag) passes through the housing into the cavity near the open end thereof, and an outlet conduit leading to a fluid sink (the patient) passes through the housing from the cavity near the closed end thereof. The shaft is driven back and forth in reciprocating motion inwardly and outwardly of the cavity to produce, respectively, a positive pressure forcing fluid out of the outlet conduit to the fluid sink, and a negative pressure forcing fluid from the fluid source through the inlet conduit.

Abstract: In a pump in which dual plunger is reciprocated with cams attached to the rotating shaft of a motor, the delivery pressure of liquid is measured during a certain period in each cycle of the pump. By setting the pressure during the certain period as a standard pressure value, the motor is controlled so that the delivery pressure during the remaining period in each cycle approaches to the standard pressure value. In this pump, rotating-speed-priority control and pressure-priority control are alternatingly performed to decrease pulsation during delivering liquid.

Abstract: A valve which may be used with a pump which includes a housing having an interior cavity therein with an inlet and an outlet leading through the housing into the cavity. A resilient sheet of material with an aperture formed therein is disposed in the cavity dividing it into first and second compartments with the inlet leading into the first compartment and the outlet leading from the second compartment. An elongated shaft adapted for reciprocating movement is disposed within and aligned with the cavity and extends through the aperture in the sheet of resilient material. An interior passage extends lengthwise in the shaft and includes first and second openings in the passage which may be positioned so that the first opening is located in the first compartment and the second opening is located in the second compartment, providing a fluid communication between the two compartments.

Abstract: A bottoming detector for detecting the movement of a pump shaft beyond a pre-determined distance within a cylinder is disclosed. The pump has a housing defining an elongate cavity filled with fluid, a resilient sheet with an aperture in alignment with the cavity which divides the cavity into first and second compartments, and an elongate shaft disposed within the first compartment of the cavity such that it may be moved into and out of the aperture in the sheet to cause pressure fluctuations in the second compartment. There is also a chamber in fluid communication with the second compartment. In the chamber there is actuating means responsive to excessive pressure in the chamber, that actuates a switch to indicate that the shaft has reached a certain distance into the second compartment.

Abstract: In some implementations, a controller may obtain a set of measurement values associated with the dual-pump single-power source system, wherein the set of measurement values includes at least one of one or more speed measurements associated with a clutch that is coupled to a power source and a first pump of the dual-pump single-power source system, a measurement value indicating an output speed of the power source, or a first crank angle associated with the first pump and a second crank angle associated with a second pump of the dual-pump single-power source system. The controller may detect that the clutch is experiencing slippage based on comparing at least two measurement values of the set of measurement values. The controller may perform an action to cause the clutch to disengage a mechanical connection between the first pump and the power source while the power source is running and is mechanically connected to the second pump.

Abstract: An anti-ripple injection method for injecting an anti-ripple signal into a control system of a pump is disclosed. The control system controls an electric motor via an electric motor drive, and the electric motor drives the pump. The anti-ripple signal causes pressure ripples in the pump output to be at least partially cancelled. The anti-ripple injection method comprises: injecting an anti-ripple signal of any waveform into the control system, the anti-ripple signal being represented by the following equation: f(θ)=ΣmAmcos(mθ+θm), wherein θ is the rotation angle of the motor shaft, m is the order of a signal harmonic in the anti-ripple signal, Am and θm are parameters with respect to the mth signal harmonic. A control system of a pump including the anti-ripple injection apparatus, and a pump system including the control system are also disclosed.
