Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing array cameras configured to perform super-resolution processing to generate higher resolution super-resolved images using a plurality of captured images and lens stack arrays that can be utilized in array cameras are disclosed. An imaging device in accordance with one embodiment of the invention includes at least one imager array, and each imager in the array comprises a plurality of light sensing elements and a lens stack including at least one lens surface, where the lens stack is configured to form an image on the light sensing elements, control circuitry configured to capture images formed on the light sensing elements of each of the imagers, and a super-resolution processing module configured to generate at least one higher resolution super-resolved image using a plurality of the captured images.

Abstract: A light-trapping image sensor includes a pixel array and a lens array. The pixel array is formed in and on a semiconductor substrate and including photosensitive pixels each including a reflective material forming a cavity around a portion of semiconductor material to at least partly trap light that has entered the cavity. The cavity has a ceiling at a light-receiving surface of the semiconductor substrate, and the ceiling forms an aperture for receiving the light into the cavity. The lens array is disposed on the pixel array. Each lens of the lens array is aligned to the aperture of a respective cavity to focus the light into the cavity through the aperture.

Abstract: A display system for imaging a user body portion includes a display panel, an optical sensor disposed on the display panel and configured to detect light reflected by the user body portion, and an optical stack disposed between the display panel and the optical sensor. The optical stack includes a first optical reflector and a light collimating film. The light collimating film includes a plurality of substantially coplanar alternating first and second regions. For an incident light, a visible wavelength range, and an infrared wavelength range, and for each of a first incident angle of less than about 5 degrees and a second incident angle of between about 40 degrees and about 70 degrees, the plurality of polymeric layers has an average optical reflectance of greater than about 70% in the visible wavelength range and an optical transmittance of greater than about 30% in the infrared wavelength range.

Abstract: Techniques are described for passive three-dimensional image sensing based on referential image blurring. For example, a filter mask is integrated with a lens assembly to provide one or more normal imaging bandpass (NIB) regions and one or more reference imaging bandpass (RIB) regions, the regions being optically distinguishable and corresponding to different focal lengths and/or different focal paths. As light rays from a scene object pass through the different regions of the filter mask, a sensor can detect first and second images responsive to those light rays focused through the NIB region and the RIB region, respectively (according to their respective focal lengths and/or respective focal paths). An amount of blurring between the images can be measured and correlated to an object distance for the scene object. Some embodiments project additional reference illumination to enhance blurring detection in the form of reference illumination flooding and/or spotted illumination.

Abstract: A display device is provided that has pixels including a first pixel and a second pixel arranged to be adjacent to each other along a first direction. The pixels include a light emitting region and a color filter. Luminous efficacy of the first pixel is higher than that of the second pixel. In a plane view, a center position of each color filter is shifted in the first direction from a center position of a corresponding light emitting region, and a length parallel to the first direction of the color filter of the first pixel is longer than that of the second pixel. In the first direction, each first pixel is periodically arranged and a pitch of the color filter of each first pixel and a pitch of the light emitting region of each first pixel are different from each other.
