Abstract: Methods and systems for transmitting uplink control information in an LTE Advanced system are disclosed. A user device may determine whether uplink control information and/or available channels meet certain criteria and determine whether the uplink control information should be transmitted on a physical uplink control channel, a physical uplink shared channel, or both, based on the criteria. Criteria may include the size of the uplink control information (absolute size or relative to space available on a channel or a threshold value), the type of control information bits, the number of available (i.e., active or configured) component carriers, and the amount of power that may be required to transmit the uplink control information on more than one channel.

Abstract: Techniques for sending control information in a wireless communication system are described. In an aspect, a UE spreads control information across frequency with a DFT and across time with an orthogonal sequence to obtain output data for the control information. In one design, the UE receives codewords for N HARQ processes in N downlink subframes, determines an ACK value for each HARQ process, codes N ACK values for the N HARQ processes to obtain ACK information, generates output data for the ACK information, and sends the output data in one of M uplink subframes. In another aspect, first control information is processed based on a first coding and multiplexing scheme utilizing code division multiplexing in time and frequency domains. Second control information is processed based on a second coding and multiplexing scheme utilizing code division multiplexing in time domain and spreading in frequency domain.

Abstract: Channel feedback reporting for non-orthogonal wireless communication systems employing frequency selective channels. A plurality of channel feedback matrices corresponding to a plurality of sub-carriers of a sub-band for a non-orthogonal channel may be determined by a UE, and one or more effective channel feedback matrices for the sub-band may be determined based on the plurality of channel feedback matrices. Each of the one or more effective channel feedback matrices may be associated with corresponding sets of transmission strategies, where each of the corresponding sets of transmission strategies include one or more transmission strategies of a plurality of transmission strategies for the non-orthogonal channel. Channel feedback information representing the one or more effective channel feedback matrices may be reported to a base station, which may estimate channel quality for the plurality of transmission strategies based at least in part on the channel feedback information, for downlink transmissions to UEs over the non-orthogonal channel.

Abstract: In order to prevent any increase in number of blind detections and make efficient use of radio resources even when a format of downlink control information is changed in accordance with a communication environment, the present invention provides a radio communication method for generating control information by using a predetermined DCI format out of a plurality of DCI formats including a first DCI format having an uplink scheduling grant and a second DCI format having downlink scheduling assignment. When the first DCI format is extended in size, the second DCI format is added with an information field so as to have the same size as the extended first DCI format, and information to extend an existing function of the second DCI format and/or information to add a new function is added to the information field thereby to generate the control information.

Abstract: A first network device including a physical layer (PHY) module and a medium access control (MAC) module. The MAC module, in a sub-1 GHz band, transmits the capabilities element to a second network device. The capabilities element includes: a multi-bit field indicating whether transmission of a packet with a traveling pilot is supported by the first network device; or a field indicating whether transmission of a spatial stream over a 1 MHz channel to the second network device is supported by the first network device. The MAC module, subsequent transmitting the capabilities element, forwards data to the PHY module. The PHY module: generates the packet to include the data, where the packet includes the traveling pilot if the capabilities element indicates transmission of the packet with the traveling pilot is supported; and according to the capabilities element, transmits the packet to the second network device via the spatial stream.

In case the CQI request flag is set at least one further bit of the dedicated control information is interpreted as information indicative of the one or more component carriers available for downlink transmission to the terminal and the terminal is providing channel quality feedback on the channel quality experienced on the indicated component carrier or component carriers.
