Abstract: A circuit can be used in a speaker system. The circuit includes an amplifier with an output configured to be coupled to a speaker. An offset comparator has an input coupled the output of the amplifier and is configured to provide an offset control signal. A digital circuit has a first input coupled to an output of the offset comparator, a second input configured to receive an amplifier control signal, a third input configured to receive a play control signal, and an output configured to provide a forced mute signal that can be used to control the amplifier.

Abstract: To provide an electric light bulb type light source apparatus capable of reducing backlash, which results in noise, and improving the sound quality of a speaker. The electric light bulb type light source apparatus may include a speaker, a light source unit, a supporting unit, a casing, and a base. The supporting unit may support the speaker. The supporting unit may include a base portion. The base portion may include a tapered surface and a supporting surface that supports the light source unit. The casing may include an abutting surface that abuts against the tapered surface of the base portion. The base maybe used for supplying a power to the light source unit and the speaker.

Abstract: The present disclosure generally provides an apparatus and method of forming a liquid impermeable sealed audio speaker that can be easily manufactured and provides a high quality audio output. In an effort to overcome the shortcomings of conventional sealed speaker designs that typically utilize complicated and expensive means of shielding their electronic components from liquids and other sources of contamination, one or more of the embodiments of the disclosure provided herein include a sealed enclosure that has at least one liquid impermeable region that prevents or substantially inhibits the movement of a liquid from the exterior region into the internal region. In general, the liquid impermeable regions, or hereafter simply “liquid permeable regions,” are configured to prevent the ingress of liquids or other contaminants, while allowing the production of a desired sound quality.

Abstract: The invention relates to a programmable digital sound reproduction system (10), comprising a controller (12) and a plurality of active loudspeaker chassis (14) connected to the controller (12) for communication purposes, wherein the controller (12) has an interface (16) for receiving digital sound data (18) from a sound source (20), a sound data processing unit (22) for processing the digital sound data (18) to produce at least one piece of digital sound information (24), and a distributor (26) for distributing the digital sound information (24) to an active loudspeaker chassis (14), connected to the controller (12) for communication purposes, from the plurality of active loudspeaker chassis (14), the plurality of active loudspeaker chassis (14) each have a receiver (28) for receiving the corresponding digital sound information (24) distributed by the controller (12) to an active loudspeaker chassis (14) from the plurality of active loudspeaker chassis (14), an amplifier (30) for amplifying and forwarding the digital sound information (24), and a sound transducer (32) for converting the digital sound information (24) into alternating sound pressures (34). In accordance with the invention, a program-controlled signal processor (36) for specific processing of the received digital sound information (24) is arranged in each active loudspeaker chassis (14) from the plurality of active loudspeaker chassis (14). In this way, a programmable digital sound reproduction system (10) is described with which a high sound quality is made possible.

Abstract: In an illustrative embodiment, an integrated speaker-light unit includes a base unit adapted to be mounted to a fixture of an aircraft, a speaker unit disposed proximate the base unit, a horn element having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end positioned proximate the speaker unit and defining a first aperture, and the distal end defining a second aperture, where a greatest measurement of the second aperture is larger than a greatest measurement of the first aperture, an LED unit disposed at least partially in the horn element, and a housing element at least partially surrounding the horn element. The greatest measurement of the second aperture may be less than 4 inches. The base unit may be mounted to a passenger service unit such that the integrated speaker-light unit is presented as a passenger reading light.

Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and method of processing an audio signal to optimize audio for a room environment. One example method of operation may include recording the audio signal generated within a particular room environment and processing the audio signal to create an original frequency response based on the audio signal. The method may also include identifying a target sub-region of the frequency response which has a predetermined area percentage of a total area under a curve generated by the frequency response, determining whether the target sub-region is a narrow energy region, creating a filter to adjust the frequency response, and applying the filter to the audio signal.

Abstract: A speaker system may include a speaker enclosure with a front wall having an acoustic port formed therein and toward a bottom thereof, with the acoustic port being shaped such that air exiting the acoustic port flows outwards in a direction parallel to the bottom. The plurality of valleys defined by the grill may have a plurality of holes defined therein, and the plurality of holes having parabolic shaped cross sections.
