Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide a granulation adsorbent having high strength and in particular stability in water that ensures certain throughputs at low costs. The granulated adsorbent of the invention comprises a metal-cyano complex as an effective component, a flocculation precipitant for flocculation precipitation of the metal-cyano complex from slurry containing the metal-cyano complex, a binder, and a crosslinking agent. The granulated adsorbent is produced by a step of adding the flocculation precipitant to the metal-cyano complex slurry and then dehydrating the metal-cyano complex slurry to prepare a metal-cyano complex dehydrated cake, a step of heat drying the metal-cyano complex dehydrated cake to prepare a metal-cyano complex dried block, a step of pulverizing the metal-cyano complex dried block into metal-cyano complex powder, and a step of preparing a mixture containing the metal-cyano complex powder, binder and crosslinking agent, and then granulating using the mixture.

Abstract: Filter media for treating contaminated water is produced from aluminum-based water treatment residuals (Al-WTR) commonly produced as a byproduct of water treatment plants. By processing the residuals into small granules, a superior green sorbent product is obtained with the functionality to adsorb contaminants, such as metals and certain nutrients in water. Biopolymers can be incorporated into the filter media to further enhance functionality and hydraulic characters.

Abstract: The invention discloses a humic acid type adsorption material as well as a preparation method and application thereof. The humic acid type adsorption material is prepared by taking carboxymethyl cellulose or salts thereof, humate and montmorillonite as raw materials and adding a monomer, a cross-linking agent and an initiator through aqueous solution polymerization. The synthesized porous material is great in specific surface area, can quickly get close to water molecules in water to form hydrogen bonds, and finally achieves the purpose of removing organic dye pollutants through electrostatic attraction effect with dye molecules. The humic acid type adsorption material is low in raw material price, is simple in synthesis process, and is green and environmentally friendly.

Abstract: An activated carbon sorbent composition comprising activated carbon and a passivation agent, wherein the activated carbon sorbent composition exhibits reduced self-heating or auto-ignition properties as compared to the activated carbon. The activated carbon sorbent composition may be utilized to sequester contaminants such as mercury from a flue gas stream. The passivation agent includes a sulfur species, and may be a sulfur oxide compound, a sulfide compound, or an organic sulfur compound. Methods for the manufacture of the activated carbon sorbent composition and for the sequestration of contaminants in a flue gas stream using the composition are also disclosed.
