    Abstract: A power supply system includes: a first system having a first power supply; a second system having a second power supply; and an inter-system switch provided in a connection path connecting the first and second systems. First and second paths are provided in parallel between a connection point, at which the connection path is connected with the second system, and the second power supply. The power supply system further includes: a charging unit provided in the first path to charge, with the inter-system switch closed, a storage battery of the second power supply; a discharge restriction unit provided in the second path to restrict discharge of the storage battery; an abnormality determination unit that determines whether an abnormality has occurred in the discharge restriction unit; and a use restriction unit that restricts use of the second power supply upon determination that an abnormality has occurred in the discharge restriction unit.

    Abstract: An electrical power circuit (100) is disclosed, comprising a charging input (102) for receiving electrical energy at a first or second voltage for charging a traction battery (106) of the vehicle; a battery connection terminal (104) for electrically connecting to the traction battery to supply electrical energy from the charging input for charging the traction battery at the first or second voltage and to receive electrical energy from the traction battery to power one or more traction motors (108) of the vehicle at the second voltage; and a DCDC converter (112) coupled to the charging input and to an output for connecting the DCDC converter to an electrical bus for providing power to one or more electrical units at an output voltage, the DCDC converter configured to receive electrical energy from the charging input, and to provide electrical energy at the output voltage whilst the traction battery is charged at the first voltage.

    Abstract: A generator system for connection to a vehicle axle. The generator system includes: an electrically-actuated clutch having an engaged position and a disengaged position; a generator and a processor. The generator includes: a rotor configured to be selectively connected, via the clutch, to the vehicle axle; and a stator. In the engaged position, the rotor is connected to the vehicle axle via the clutch such that torque from the vehicle axle is transmitted to the rotor. In the disengaged position, torque from the vehicle axle is not transmitted to the rotor. The processor is configured to control the clutch to actuate between the engaged and disengaged positions, and the processor is configured to monitor an electrical output of the generator, wherein the processor is configured to command the clutch to move to the disengaged position if the electrical output moves outside a predetermined range.

    Abstract: An electrical portal wheel hub system is coupled with a wheel of a vehicle and utilizes an electric motor/generator configured to drive the wheel or generate power through application of braking torque to the wheel, and may be coupled with two or more wheels of the vehicle, wherein generated power is provided to a portal hub battery. The portal hub battery may provide power to the electric motors, or to other electrical devices or batteries of the vehicle. The vehicle may include a trailer or non-driven wheels having a connecting axle and an electrical portal hub may be coupled to these otherwise, non-driven wheels. The vehicle may be an electric vehicle and the electrical portal wheel hub system may provide power to a vehicle battery that provides power to drive the wheels of the vehicle. A controller may control power from the portal hub battery to the electric motor/generators and or other battery and devices to provide energy efficiency.
