Abstract: An aqueous elastomer dispersion includes a dispersed phase and an aqueous phase. The dispersed phase includes an elastomer including curable aliphatic conjugated-diene elastomers, such as polyisoprene, and a minor amount of at least one additive. The aqueous phase includes water and other optional components in either a soluble state or a dispersion state. The aqueous elastomer dispersion may be prepared by dissolving an elastomer, such as rubber, and additives in a solvent mixture and then converting the resulting solution into an aqueous emulsion. The aqueous emulsion is concentrated and the solvent is stripped from it to yield a dilute latex. The dilute latex that is obtained is concentrated again. Articles made from the aqueous elastomer dispersion include medical gloves, condoms, probe covers, dental dams, finger cots, catheters and the like.

Abstract: Polymers useful in formulating dispersing agents for pigments are disclosed. One such polymer can be made from a glycidyl intermediate. A nucleophilic initiator can be reacted with epichlorohydrin to produce a glycidyl intermediate. This intermediate is reacted with an aralkylated phenol to give a hydroxy-functional hydrophobe. Alkoxylation of the hydrophobe gives the desired polymer. In an alternative, approach, the polymer is made by reacting the nucleophilic initiator with an aralkylated phenol glycidyl ether to give the hydroxy-functional hydrophobe, which is then alkoxylated. Pigments dispersions comprising the polymers are also disclosed. The polymers meet the growing needs of the industry with their ease of manufacture, diverse structures, and desirable performance attributes for dispersing a wide range of organic and inorganic pigments. Agricultural applications for the polymers are also disclosed.

Abstract: A strip (100) intended for the reinforcement of the wall of high pressure hoses or flexible pipes is presented. Different embodiments are presented wherein the wires (102) are embedded in the hardened adhesive (104), or wherein only one side of the strip (100) is covered with hardened adhesive (104) or wherein the hardened adhesive (104) is present only between the wires (102) and not on the surfaces (S1, S2) delineating the strip (100). In one preferred embodiment the wires (102) are flattened with the flats being parallel to the surfaces (S1, S2) of the strips (100).

(b) An integration value from 5.76 to 5.98 ppm of a peak or peaks observed at 5.86 to 5.90 ppm when an integration value from 3.65 to 4.05 ppm of a peak or peaks observed at 3.83 to 3.87 ppm is assumed to be 100.
