Abstract:
Laser-markable cable layers for a cable are provided. The laser-markable cable layers include an inner layer formed of a first polymer material and an outer layer formed of a second polymer material and a laser-marking compound. The outer layer is about 0.5% to about 50% of the thickness of the inner layer. The laser-markable cable layers surround a wire or cable core. Methods of marking a cable having laser-markable cable layers are also provided.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of coating an installed overhead conductor with an unmanned aerial vehicle are disclosed. The unmanned aerial vehicles can attach to an installed overhead conductor and can apply a coating composition from one or more canisters.
Abstract:
A wheeled cart includes first and second support arms, a cross member, a first roller, a second roller, and a plurality of wheels. Each of the first and second support arms includes a distal end, a proximal end, and a central portion extending between the distal and proximal ends. The cross member is coupled to each of the first support arm and the second support arm such that the cross member extends laterally between the first support arm and the second support arm. The first and second rollers are rotatably coupled to the central portion of the first and second support arms, respectively. Each wheel of the plurality of wheels is rotatably coupled with one of the distal end of the first support arm, the distal end of the second support arm, the proximal end of the first support arm, and the proximal end of the second support arm.
Abstract:
A cable including a conductor surrounded by a covering layer, the covering layer formed from a thermoplastic vulcanizate composition which includes a continuous phase and a dispersed phase. The continuous phase is formed of a thermoplastic polyolefin. The dispersed phase is formed of a cross-linked elastomeric polyolefin. The thermoplastic vulcanizate composition passes the Hot Creep Test at 150° C. in accordance with UL 2556 (2013) and has a dielectric loss of 3 or less. Methods of forming cables with coverings are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A cable includes a conductor core having a periphery. The conductor core includes a plurality of core wires and a plurality of conductive fillers. The plurality of conductive fillers partially define the periphery of the conductor core. A plurality of conductors are peripherally positioned around the conductor core.
Abstract:
A cable includes a first twisted pair of insulated conductors, a second twisted pair of insulated conductors, a shielding tape, and an outer jacket surrounding the first twisted pair of insulated conductors, the second twisted pair of insulated conductors and the shielding tape. The shielding tape includes a substrate and a plurality of conductive shielding segments. The plurality of conductive shielding segments is disposed on the substrate. Each conductive shielding segment is spaced from each immediately adjacent conductive shielding segment in a longitudinal direction.
Abstract:
Thermally conductive compositions exhibiting a thermal conductivity of 0.30 W/mK or more include a base polyolefin, a halogenated flame retardant, a non-halogenated flame retardant, and a flame retardant synergist. Cables include insulation and/or jacket layers formed of such thermally conductive compositions.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of coating an installed overhead conductor with an unmanned aerial vehicle are disclosed. The unmanned aerial vehicles can attach to an installed overhead conductor and can apply a coating composition from one or more canisters.
Abstract:
A data cable can include a plurality of insulated conductors twisted into pairs, an intumescent tape surrounding one or more of the insulated conductors, and a jacket. Each of the plurality of insulated conductors includes a conductor and an insulation layer. Data cables being fluoropolymer-free or halogen free are also described herein.
Abstract:
Cables including a fire-retardant composition are disclosed. The fire-retardant compositions include an oxygen-containing base polymer, a primary filler, and an antimony-containing secondary filler. The primary filler can be a metal hydroxide. The fire-retardant composition can be halogen-free and exhibit an elongation at break of about 150% or more. The cable passes the UL 1581 VW-1 flame.
