Abstract: In a process for the synthesis of a nitrile by endothermic catalyzed reaction of ammonia with a hydrocarbon using heating obtained by passing an alternating current through a metallic coil, the endothermic reaction between ammonia and the hydrocarbon takes place in a reactor with direct inductive heating in the reaction zone. The heating is extremely fast, which makes the reaction practically instantaneous.

Abstract: In a method for the hydroprocessing of renewable feeds in a hydroprocessing unit (unit A), comprising the use of sour waste water from the same or another unit (unit B), which is processing feeds containing sulfur and nitrogen, as wash water in unit A, thereby changing the pH of the waste water from unit A to lower the risk of carbonic acid corrosion of corrodible steel parts in unit A, the renewable material in unit A is directed to contact a material that is catalytically active in hydrogenating the renewable material in the presence of hydrogen, and the effluent is combined with the wash water stream which contains hydrogen sulfide and/or ammonia.

Abstract: A process plant and a process for production of a hydrocarbon suitable for use as jet fuel from a feedstock being a renewable feedstock or an oxygenate feedstock, including combining the renewable feedstock with an amount of a hydrocracked intermediate product, directing it to contact a material catalytically active in hydrodeoxygenation under hydrodeoxygenation conditions to provide a hydrodeoxygenated intermediate product, fractionating the hydrodeoxygenated intermediate product in at least two fractions including a first fraction of which at least 90% boils below a defined boiling point and a second fraction of which at least 90% boils above the defined boiling point, directing at least an amount of the second fraction to contact a material catalytically active in hydrocracking under hydrocracking conditions to provide the hydrocracked intermediate product, the process being suited for efficiently converting the upper-boiling point of an oxygenate feedstock such as a renewable feedstocks to a lower boiling product.

Abstract: Process for the preparation of a methanol product comprising the steps of a) providing a first process stream consisting essentially of carbon dioxide; b) providing a second process stream consisting of hydrogen by electrolyzing water in an electrolysis unit; c) mixing the first and second process in amount to obtain a methanol synthesis gas with a mole ratio of H2 and CO2 of between 2.5 and 3.5; d) catalytic converting the methanol synthesis gas into raw methanol in at least one methanol reactor; e) purifying the raw methanol in a distillation unit; and recovering waste heat generated in the electrolysis unit in step (b) by transferring the waste heat to a circulating heat transfer medium by indirect heat exchange with the waste heat and by indirect heat exchange of the heated heat transfer medium with steam used for the distillation of the raw methanol, wherein the heated transfer medium is compressed upstream the indirect heat exchange with steam.
