Abstract:
Similarities between simplex projection with upper bounds and L1 projection are explored. Criteria for a-priori determination of sequence in which various constraints become active are derived, and this sequence is used to develop efficient algorithms for projecting a vector onto the L1-ball while observing box constraints. Three projection methods are presented. The first projection method performs exact projection in O(n2) worst case complexity, where n is the space dimension. Using a novel criteria for ordering constraints, the second projection method has a worst case complexity of O(n log n). The third projection method is a worst case linear time algorithm having O(n) complexity. The upper bounds defined for the projected entries guide the L1-ball projection to more meaningful predictions.

Abstract:
A system to generate a template of a fingerprint input image is described. The system provides for smoothing the input image, forming a binary image from it, and further processing the binary image to extract the minutia of the fingerprint. The minutiae are stored in the template, in the form of locations of each minutia in relation to all other minutiae. The system includes optional identification and verification steps, which compare the template generated according to the system with templates stored in a fingerprint database.
Abstract:
The invention relates to small molecules which function as inhibitors of the interaction between p53 and MDM2. The invention also relates to the use of these compounds for inhibiting cell growth, inducing cell death, inducing cell cycle arrest and/or sensitizing cells to additional agent(s).
Abstract:
This invention is a new approach for the image watermarking in the wavelet transform domain based on sequency of the host and watermark image. For each sub-band a first transform level of the host image is thresholded and binarized. Sequencies of thresholded and binarized data host image are compared with sequencies of the discrete wavelet transformed watermark image to form a watermarking sequency mask. The watermarked wavelet domain data is formed by combining data elements of the discrete wavelet transformed host image with corresponding data elements of the wavelet transformed watermark image as filtered by the watermarking mask. A reverse process can extract the watermark with a high degree of accuracy even after attack upon the watermarked host image.
Abstract:
A method for controlling operation of an integrated mobile communication and broadcast program reproduction device and of operating the device includes monitoring an occurrence of a trigger event at the device; and upon occurrence of the trigger event, recording a broadcast program signal received by the device. An integrated mobile communication and broadcast program reproduction device has a trigger event monitor and a broadcast program recorder for recording a broadcast program when a trigger event occurs. A trigger event may be receipt of an incoming call, the making of an outgoing call, the identification of predetermined content in a received program and the start of a predetermined program. Different trigger events may be prioritized. Recorded material may be reproduced, with broadcast material being received being recorded whilst previously recorded material is reproduced.

The invention provides a novel herbal formulation useful as local anesthetic in topical surgical operations, nerve block conduction, extradural and infiltration anesthesia. Formulation(s) comprises of extract(s) of Spilanthus calva and Spilanthus oleraceae with Gymnema sylvestre, Urtica dioica and Piper longum. The formulation can be used as topical application as ointment or spray or cream.
Abstract:
A method and system is described to provide data to an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System. The method may comprise accessing an image communicated from a voice-communication device and communicating the image to an optical character recognition (OCR) module. Thereafter, data extracted from the image by the OCR module may be accessed and communicated for use in one or more IVR processes. The extracted data may be communicated to the device and confirmation that the extracted data corresponds to data in the image may be monitored. For example, the method may discover capabilities of the device to identify different communication options to communicate the image from the device. The options may be communicated to the device for presentation to a user. Upon receiving an indication of an option selected by the user, the IVR system may be configured to allow receipt of the image via the user selected option.
Abstract:
A ROM includes a ROM array, an address decoder, a control circuit, a precharge tracker, a precharge circuit, a reference word line, a reference bit line and a reference sense generator. The control circuit generates control signals for reading the ROM. The address decoder enables a bit line and a word line. The precharge tracker generates a programmable precharge signal, which is provided to the precharge circuit for precharging the enabled bit line. A reference word line is enabled based on the programmable precharge signal and the control signals for tracking the enabled word line. A reference bit line is enabled based on the reference word line for tracking the enabled bit line. The reference sense generator generates a programmable sense signal based on the reference bit line, the programmable precharge signal and the control signals for reading a bit cell corresponding to the enabled bit line and word line.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for setting a cycle date for a financial account. For instance, a cycling module may be provided to set a default cycle date for cycling the financial account, and an account monitoring module may be provided to determine whether a transaction is posted on the financial account within a first predetermined period before the default cycle date. If a transaction is posted on the financial account within the first predetermined period, then the cycling module sets a new cycle date. The new cycle date can be set to a date that follows the transaction post date by a second predetermined period. Alternatively, the new cycle date may be set to other dates, such as a date corresponding to the next qualifying date.
