    Abstract: A polymer is provided comprising a first pendant group selected from at least one of a perfluorinated ether group or a perfluoroalkanesulfonamido group, a second pendant group comprising an ammonium group, wherein the second pendant group is free of silicon, and a third pendant group comprising an ammonium group and a reactive silicon-containing group. A composition comprising the polymer is provided. The polymer and composition are useful for protecting a substrate, for example, to render the substrate oil repellent, water repellent, or both, or to provide stain repellency to the substrate.

    Abstract: A composition, and article including such composition, wherein the silsesquioxane polymer includes a three-dimensional network of Formula (I): wherein: each R1 and R2 is independently a (C1-C4)alkyl; each L1 and L2 is independently a single bond, an alkylene, or an alkylene bonded to a group selected from oxy, thio, carbonyl, —NH—, and combinations thereof; each R3 is independently a linear (C14-C100)alkyl; each R5 is independently a (C1-C30)alkyl, a (C1-C30)fluorinated alkyl, or a (C2-C30)heteroalkyl having at least one oxygen, sulfur, or —NH— group; with the proviso that L1, L2, and R5 are selected such that each Si atom is directly bonded to an alkylene or an alkyl; m is an integer of at least 2; n is an integer of 0 or above; m+n is an integer of at least 10; each oxygen atom at an asterisk (*) is bonded to another Si atom within the three-dimensional network; and the silsesquioxane polymer is a solid at 25° C.

    Abstract: Hydrophobic polyurethane polymers which may be useful in making synthetic leathers comprising at least two immediately consecutive repeating units according to Formula I: (—OC(O)N—)nA-NC(O)O-L(M)-  (I) wherein n is 1 or 2, A represents the residue of an organic di- or tri-isocyanate compound, L represents a hydrocarbon group that optionally contains one or more catenary or non-catenary hetero-atoms, and M represents an oligomer comprising 2-12 (meth)acrylate units. The polyurethane polymers may additionally comprise end group(s) according to the formula -L′M wherein L′ represents a hydrocarbon group that may contain one or more catenary or non-catenary hetero-atoms. In some embodiments, M is according to Formula III: wherein Q is hydrogen or methyl, p is an integer between 2 and 12 inclusive, and Z is a hydrocarbon group which may optionally be substituted.
