Abstract:
For imparting enhanced water-repellency and oil-repellency properties to substrates compositions comprising blends of (A) one or more ester oligomers and (B) one or more polycarbodiimides. Also methods for applying such compositions and articles treated with such compositions.
Abstract:
A polymer is provided comprising a first pendant group selected from at least one of a perfluorinated ether group or a perfluoroalkanesulfonamido group, a second pendant group comprising an ammonium group, wherein the second pendant group is free of silicon, and a third pendant group comprising an ammonium group and a reactive silicon-containing group. A composition comprising the polymer is provided. The polymer and composition are useful for protecting a substrate, for example, to render the substrate oil repellent, water repellent, or both, or to provide stain repellency to the substrate.
Abstract:
A fiber comprising: a base polymer comprising an aromatic polyester or nylon-6; and an alkylene oxide-containing nonionic surfactant mixed within the base polymer; wherein the alkylene oxide-containing nonionic surfactant has a melting point of greater than 25° C. and an HLB of greater than 10. An article comprising a plurality of said fibers, wherein a dye is present in a greater amount in a first portion of the fibers than in other portions of the fibers of the article.
Abstract:
A coalescing element for aggregating droplets of an emulsion. The coalescing element includes a nonwoven web substrate. A coalescer that includes the coalescing element can also include a housing and a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet each in fluid communication with the coalescing element. The coalescing element and coalescer may be useful for emulsions that form in solvent extraction/electrowinning copper processing and for other emulsions.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Hydrophobic polyurethane polymers which may be useful in making synthetic leathers comprising at least two immediately consecutive repeating units according to Formula I: (—OC(O)N—)nA-NC(O)O-L(M)- (I) wherein n is 1 or 2, A represents the residue of an organic di- or tri-isocyanate compound, L represents a hydrocarbon group that optionally contains one or more catenary or non-catenary hetero-atoms, and M represents an oligomer comprising 2-12 (meth)acrylate units. The polyurethane polymers may additionally comprise end group(s) according to the formula -L′M wherein L′ represents a hydrocarbon group that may contain one or more catenary or non-catenary hetero-atoms. In some embodiments, M is according to Formula III: wherein Q is hydrogen or methyl, p is an integer between 2 and 12 inclusive, and Z is a hydrocarbon group which may optionally be substituted.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a novel partially fluorinated piperazine carboxamide compound, and polymer composition comprising the fluorinated compound and a thermoplastic or thermoset polymer. The polymer composition is useful in preparing shaped articles such as fibers and films which have desirable oil- and water repellency properties.
Abstract:
Fluorinated silane compounds, compositions containing the fluorinated silane compounds, and articles prepared using the fluorinated silane compounds and compositions are described. The fluorinated silane compounds can be soluble or dispersible in aqueous media, such as water, and can be used to coat articles, such as glass articles.
