Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a method for forming a multilayer coating film, the method being capable of providing a multilayer coating film with excellent finished appearance and luster. The aqueous base paint (X) comprises: a hydroxy-containing acrylic resin particle (X1) having a core-shell structure wherein the shell has an acid value of 90 to 100 mg KOH/g; and a hydroxy-containing acrylic resin particle (X2) having a core-shell structure wherein the shell has an acid value of 110 to 120 mg KOH/g; and an associative thickener (X3), wherein the proportions of the hydroxy-containing acrylic resin particle (X1) and the hydroxy-containing acrylic resin particle (X2) contained in the aqueous base paint (X) are such that the ratio by mass of the hydroxy-containing acrylic resin particle (X1) to the hydroxy-containing acrylic resin particle (X2) (X1/X2) is in the range of 70/30 to 30/70. The effect pigment dispersion (Y) contains a flake-aluminum pigment (Y1), a cellulose-based rheology control agent (Y2), a surface-adjusting agent (Y3), and water, and has a solids content within the range of 2 to 6 mass %. The effect coating film formed using the effect pigment dispersion (Y) has a cured film thickness of 0.5 to 1.5 μm.

Abstract: In examples, a method for forming a high temperature coating includes applying a barrier coat formulation on a substrate. The barrier coat formulation includes mono-aluminum phosphate; boron carbide; and chromium or a chromium compound. The method further includes heat treating the barrier coat formulation to form an oxidation-resistant coating layer, wherein a melting point of the oxidation-resistant coating layer is greater than about 800 degrees Celsius (° C.).

The enhanced optical properties may be substantially permanent, remaining for the useful life of the sintered ceramic body.

Abstract: Methods and processes for applying powder coat faux finishes, and power coat materials associated with such methods and processes are provided. Processes employ one or more partial powder coat layers along with physical texturing techniques to provide a variety of powder coated faux finish effects. Methods may utilize standard powder coating formulations in contrasting combinations to form suitable faux finishes. Faux finishing techniques using powder coating procedures may reproduce effects previously only obtainable with wet techniques, such as, for example, sponging, color washing, rag rolling, marbleizing, faux granite, strié, antiquing, verdigris, wood graining, weathered patina, etc. Kits of materials, including powder coating materials and physical texturing equipment suitable to reproduce such faux finishes are also provided.

Abstract: Provided is a surface treatment solution composition comprising: 30 to 51 wt % of a trivalent chromium compound comprising chromium phosphate (A) and chromium nitrate (B) and having a content ratio of A/(A+B) that satisfies 0.3 to 0.6; 5 to 15 wt % of silane coupling agent; 0.2 to 3 wt % of vanadium-based anti-corrosive rust inhibitor; 3 to 12 wt % of colloidal silica; 0.5 to 5 wt % of polysiloxane copolymer; and 14 to 61.3 wt % of water, a hot dip galvanized steel sheet surface-treated using same, and a manufacturing method thereof. The hot dip galvanized steel sheet treated with the surface treatment solution composition containing trivalent chromium has an excellent corrosion resistance, blackening resistance, pipe-forming oil reactivity, and alkali resistance.
