Abstract:
Various example embodiments relate to an automatic drain system for use with a fluid water separator. The automatic drain system includes a liquid-in-fuel sensor configured to detect a liquid level in a water sump. A pump includes an inlet in fluid communication with the water sump and an outlet in fluid communication with the inlet. The pump has an active state and an inactive state. The active state causes the pump to draw liquid in from the inlet and direct liquid toward the outlet. A battery is configured to power the pump. A circuit board is operably connected to the pump and battery. The circuit board includes at least one circuit having a first state and a second state. The first state prevents power flow from the battery to the pump. The second state facilitates power flow from the battery to the pump, transitioning the pump from inactive to active.
Abstract:
Various example embodiments relate to a system that includes a nozzle. A dosing line is connected to the nozzle and a fuel dosing module. The fuel dosing module is in fluid communication with the dosing line and includes an outlet in fluid communication with the dosing line. An air inlet is positioned upstream of the outlet and is configured to receive air. A fuel inlet is positioned upstream of the outlet and is configured to receive fuel. A fuel valve is positioned upstream of the outlet and downstream of the fuel inlet and is configured to control the flow of fuel. The fuel dosing module is configured to combine the fuel and the air upstream of the outlet and downstream of the fuel valve to generate an air-fuel fluid, wherein the air-fuel fluid removes particles from the nozzle.
Abstract:
A filter assembly includes a drain port comprising a top portion and at least one surface modification along the top portion. The drain port defines an aperture therein and is alignable with an outlet port. The outlet port includes a seal member that is attachable to an end portion of the outlet port. A portion of the aperture of the drain port is sealable to the seal member when the drain port and the outlet port are aligned such that the at least one surface modification of the drain port does not abut the seal member of the outlet port, thereby creating a sealed connection between the drain port and the outlet port.

Abstract:
A filter element comprises a filter media for filtering a fluid, an endcap positioned at an axial end of the filter media, and a seal member. The endcap comprises a main wall that defines a central aperture. The seal member is positioned within the central aperture of the endcap and is adhered to the endcap.
Abstract:
A filtration apparatus comprises a housing defining an internal volume sized to receive a filter element, an inlet for receiving a fluid and an outlet for expelling the fluid. A retention mechanism is disposed in the housing having a ball plug operatively connected thereto and selectively displaceable in an axial direction relative to the housing. An engagement member is disposed within the housing and comprises a port having an opening and a ramp. A portion of the port is disposed within the outlet. The ball plug is movable between a first position, in which the ball plug rests on the ramp, does not seal the opening of the port and fluid can be expelled from the housing port, and a second position in which the ball plug is aligned with the port, the ball plug seals the opening of the port and the fluid cannot be expelled from the outlet.
Abstract:
A fuel water separator filter having a filter that separates water from a fuel and an adapter having a first end connected to an end of the filter. A second end of the adapter can detachably connect the filter to a plurality of bowls having different sizes. The adapter may detachably connect to the end of the filter or may be permanently connected to the end of the filter. The filter may be a spin-on filter. The adapter may include a first connecting portion that connects to the filter and a second connecting portion that connects to the bowl. The adapter may further include a basin having a plurality of bypass passages that allows the separated water to flow from the filter to the bowl.
Abstract:
A “no filter, no run” filtration system that is designed to verify that a filter cartridge is present to safe-guard against damage to fuel injectors, associated fuel components, etc. and engine malfunctions. Fuel flow to the engine is prevented altogether or permitted in an amount insufficient to allow engine operation if a filter cartridge is not installed, and an appropriately designed filter cartridge is required to be used in order to permit sufficient fuel flow for engine operation. In one embodiment, a flow restriction valve is provided that includes a ball.
Abstract:
A replacement filter element having a removable pin attached to the filter element is described. The removable pin is attached to the filter element via a first interference fit. When the replacement filter element is installed into a filtration system having a drain valve with an internal draft, the removable pin seals onto the drain valve and forms a second interference fit between the drain valve and the pin. The pin seals an opening in the drain valve. The second interference fit is stronger than the first interference. Accordingly, when the replacement filter element is removed from the filter housing (e.g., during a service event of the replacement filter element), the pin detaches from the replacement filter element and remains positioned within the drain valve thereby preventing fluid from leaking from the housing when the filter element is removed. The pin permanently plugs the drain valve once installed.
Abstract:
A filter within a filter cartridge design is described that includes a sealing structure on an endplate of an outer filter element. Generally, the sealing structure includes an annular flange on the endplate that can directly seal against an interior surface of a housing when the filter cartridge is assembled for use. During filtration, the annular flange prevents a working fluid from bypassing the outer filter element. The sealing flange can seal with the housing in a press fit engagement.
