    Abstract: Examples relate to processing circuitry, processing means, methods and computer programs for a base station and a user equipment. The processing circuitry for the base station is configured to select one of a first uplink beamforming management mode and a second uplink beamforming mode for a beamformed uplink communication between a user equipment and the base station. The selection is based on a path loss on a first wireless channel between the base station and the user equipment and based on a path loss on a second wireless channel between the user equipment and the base station. The processing circuitry is configured to provide an instruction related to the selection of the first or second uplink beamforming management mode to the user equipment.

    Abstract: Herein is disclosed a wireless communication device comprising two or more antennas; one or more transceivers, configured to process wireless signal for one or more processors received via the two or more antennas; and one or more processors, configured to determine a timing of data transmissions within the wireless signal; determine a timing of intervals between beam selection protocol transmissions in the wireless signal; determine a testing period corresponding to an overlap of one data transmission selected from the data transmissions and one interval of the intervals; and measure a signal quality of the selected data transmission during the testing period using a candidate receive-beam setting from a plurality of predefined receive-beam settings for receiving the wireless signals via the two or more antennas.

    Abstract: A next-generation node B (gNB) configured for operation in a fifth-generation system (5GS) encode signalling for transmission to a user equipment (UE) indicating a Transmission Configuration Indication (TCI) state change to activate a new TCI state. A physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) is encoded in accordance with a highest aggregation level if the signalling indicating the TCI state change indicates activation of a new TCI state for the PDCCH. A physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) is encoded in accordance with a lowest modulation and coding scheme (MCS) level if the signalling indicating the TCI state change indicates activation of a new TCI state for the PDSCH. After the TCI state change, reference signals (RS) are transmitted with a different spatial filter or different antenna ports demodulation of the PDCCH and PDSCH by the UE.
