Abstract: A system for delivering to one or more crewmember computing devices a security credential for accessing a management interface of an electronics system of a vehicle has a local security credential generator and a remote security credential relay in communication therewith. One or more security credential destinations are identified from a correlation of a vehicle identifier accompanying the security credential transmitted to the remote security credential relay to one or more crewmember computing devices as defined in a crewmember staffing schedule. The security credential is then passed to the crewmember computing devices. A local login controller grants access to the management interface in response to a validation of the security credential transmitted thereto from the crewmember computing device.

For example, one method includes providing a seat identifier and/or a transportation vehicle identifier in a request to access a webpage via an Internet connection from a seatback device of a transportation vehicle; selecting a server that is not located on the transportation vehicle for providing content to the seatback device; executing a remote browser at the server for retrieving content from the Internet for the seatback device, without having to execute a browser at the seatback device; and rendering content at the seatback device as an image of the content retrieved by the remote browser.

Abstract: Systems and methods for transferring a public announcement message to an onboard public announcement system (OPAS) installed on a vehicle using a personal electronic device. The personal electronic device establishes a wireless network connection to the OPAS to transmit a public announcement message stored on a personal electronic device. The personal electronic device transmits the public announcement message to the OPAS via the wireless network connection. The personal electronic device may download messages from a remote public announcement server for transfer to the OPAS. The personal electronic device may also record messages and control the playback of messages on the OPAS.

Abstract: A system for identifying a wireless security threat on a vehicle. The system includes a broadband controller including a data processor and memory in which the broadband controller provides a network within the vehicle. The system includes a vehicle WAP in communication with the broadband controller in which the WAP broadcasts an SSID for use by a PED to establish a wireless communication link and transmit and receive data wirelessly over the network via the WAP. An SSID scanner periodically scans for SSIDs broadcast in the vehicle in which SSIDs detected during scans are communicated to the broadband controller. For a detected SSID corresponding to the vehicles WAP SSID, logic executed by the data processor compares the BSSID of the vehicle WAP with the BSSID from the detected SSID and if the BSSIDs do not match, the logic identifies a security threat.

Abstract: A vehicle entertainment system including a server storing media files, and smart monitors. Each smart monitor presents media selections corresponding to the media files and receives an input from passengers for playing a selection. Each smart monitor includes local content storage storing a subset of the media files. A network connects the smart monitors and server. Program logic executed by each smart monitor performs tasks including determining if a media file corresponding to an input is available from a first source, and if available, playing the media file from the first source; if the media file is not available there, determining if the media file required is available from a second source and if available, playing the media file from the second source; and if the media file is not available from the second source, determining if the media file is available from a third source.

Abstract: A vehicle entertainment system including a server storing media files, and smart monitors. The system includes a server disposed in the vehicle to store media files; smart monitors disposed in the vehicle to present media selections to passengers corresponding to the media files stored by the server and receive an input from a passenger for playing one of the selections; seat boxes disposed in the vehicle, each seat box including network-attached storage and storing a subset of the media files stored by the server in said network-attached storage. Program logic executed by each smart monitor in which after a smart monitor receives an input from a passenger for one of the selections, performs tasks including: determining if a media file corresponding to the passenger's input is available from a first source, and if available, requesting streaming of the media file from the first source that may be networked attached storage.

Abstract: A content loader device for transferring multimedia content from a remote content server to an entertainment system of a vehicle includes a content memory and a primary data networking module that establishes a local data transfer link to the entertainment system while being within direct wireless communicable range, and a primary remote data transfer link to the remote content server while being beyond direct wireless communicable range. A data retrieval client, without user intervention and in response to a detected establishment of the primary remote data transfer link, transmits a content reception availability command to the remote content server. In response, the content is transmitted to the data retrieval client based upon a manifest associating the content loader device to the vehicle. A data loading client, without user intervention and in response to a detected establishment of the local data transfer link, transmits the content to the entertainment system.
