Abstract: An arcade game is disclosed wherein a player actuates a projectile delivery system such as an air stream created by depressing a pump or bellows to cause a projectile such as a ball to be propelled over a rotating playing field. In a first preferred embodiment the projectile is a ball, and the ball may preferably be aimed by pointing the nozzle delivering an air stream aimable in varying azimuthal and altitudal directions. A point multiplier system is incorporated wherein said ball may pass through one of several arrayed apertures of varying size and difficulty within a housing that encloses the rotating playing field. A sensor detects the passage of a ball through an aperture and sends a signal to a processor to multiply the player's points by a predetermined amount. Whether the ball passes through an aperture or rebounds off the wall, the ball enters the rotating playing field where holes are disposed about the perimeter like a roulette wheel. The rotation of the playing field causes the ball to move outward via centrifugal force to the holes, where each hole is assigned a point value. When the ball enters a hole, a sensor sends a signal to a processor corresponding to a predetermined point value. The processor receives the signal and determines the point value achieved, augmented by any multiplier accomplished in the first phase, and sends a signal to a ticket distribution mechanism to distribute redemption tickets corresponding to the point value earned by the player.

Abstract: A video crane game including a display device, such as a video screen, for displaying images. A mechanical crane-like device provided over the display device includes an x-y assembly for allowing a player to control the movement of a selection head in an x-y plane. A z-movement device causes the selection head to move in a z-direction toward and away from the images of the display device. A sensor detects a location of the selection head with respect to the images displayed on the display device when the head is moved just above or contacts the display. A game controller controls the display of the images and determines a game outcome based on the location of the selection head with respect to the displayed images. Abstract: An improved vacuum crane game and method. Multiple prizes are provided on a rotating turntable. A player may control horizontal movement of a vacuum pick-up device positioned above the prize area. The pick up device includes a vacuum head that may be raised and lowered relative to the turntable in a z-direction. The vacuum head is used to pick up one of the prizes using a suction force that is provided by a vacuum pump coupled to the vacuum head by a hose and located away from the vacuum head. In one embodiment, a vacuum sensor in the vacuum head may sense whether a prize is picked up. The pick-up device is moved to a dispenser area and the suction force is removed to allow the prize to fall to a conveyor device, which moves the prize to a dispenser where it is delivered to the player.

Abstract: An amusement device in which a player controls positioning of a mechanical pick-up device such as a claw having pincers or fingers which can be closed over an object to be retrieved. The grasping claw is positioned within a housing on the floor of which various objects are placed for retrieval by players. The claw is attached to an overhead transport mechanism which is driven by various external controls to position the claw anywhere in the housing. Once a chosen position over an object is reached the claw is lowered automatically and can be stopped and closed by the player in an attempt to grasp the object. when the claw is closed it is automatically raised back to its uppermost position and returned to a home position over a chute for delivering any retrieved object to the player.

Abstract: An arcade-type crane game has a vacuum pick-up device for capturing a target such as a laminated card that has ticket values printed prominently on each side of the card, and moves the captured card to a reader such as a barcode reader or RFID reader to read the card's information, e.g., value. The game then returns the card directly to the playing field, and a ticket dispensing machine delivers the proper number of tickets to the player. The use of cards reduces the space needed to display the targets, and the return of the cards to the playing field means that the proprietor rarely if ever needs to access the targets or the playing field. By placing the card reader inside the playing area, the entire process after capture can be completed in a matter of seconds, from capture to transport to reading to returning and ticket dispensing. The bar code is preferably printed on both sides of the card, so that vacuum pick-up device can acquire the card on the top surface and present the bottom surface of the card to the reader for examination.

Abstract: The present invention is an arcade game with a crane mechanism that uses a suction device to capture and extract beverages in aluminum cans. The arcade game may use a rotating playing field where the targets sit on a turn-table type rotating disk, or the targets may be arranged on a stationary playing field. The pick-up device can use a joystick or other type of player controls to maneuver the pick-up device over the intended target, and then lowered onto the bottom surface of the inverted can in an attempt to extract the target from the playing field. The pick-up device preferably uses a suction cup that, if positioned directly over the bottom surface of the inverted can, will make a seal with the can and allow the can to be lifted from the playing field. If the suction cup is not placed directly over the can such that a seal is not established, the pick-up device will not be able to apply a fully negative pressure between the can and the pick-up device, and the attempt will fail. In the event of a successful attempt, the can is transferred to a retrieval bin adjacent the playing field where the player can obtain the prize.

Abstract: A system that uses a vending machine and an arcade game of skill in combination. The vending machine can be a beverage machine that dispenses cold beverages for a specified price, and includes a refrigerated compartment for keeping the beverages cold. Next to the vending machine is an arcade game that allows a player to win the items sold with the vending machine. A patron is offered the choice of trying to win the item using the arcade game, or simply use the vending machine to acquire the item. If the item is successfully won using the arcade game, the arcade game uses a signal that is send to the vending machine to dispense the item won from its inventory, and the item or card in the arcade game is returned to the playing field.
