Abstract:
A continuous data backup using real time delta storage has been presented. A backup appliance receives a backup request from a backup agent running on a computing machine to backup data on the computing machine. The computing machine is communicatively coupled to the backup appliance. Then the backup appliance performs block-based real-time backup of the data on the computing machine. The backup appliance stores backup data of the computing machine in a computer-readable storage device in the backup appliance.
Abstract:
A method for backing up a client data set on a computer by generating a manifest of the client data set and storing the manifest on a remote server along with a server data set corresponding to the client data set; taking a snapshot of the server manifest and data set; and comparing the manifest to the remote server data set and synchronizing the client dataset if a difference is detected.
Abstract:
An approach is provided to apply a virtual machine (VM) image to a computer system. In the approach, implemented by an information handling system, a detection is made that a current VM image executing on the computer system is experiencing a problem. In response, prior VM images are analyzed, with each of the prior VM images being an image that was previously executed on the computer system. Based on the analysis, one of the prior VM images is selected and the selected image is used to replace the current VM image on the computer system.
Abstract:
A system and computer program product for system care for a computing device. In one embodiment, a process includes analyzing one or more software and hardware components of the computing device by a system care program of the computing device, analyzing system health of the computing device based on the one or more software and hardware components based on at least one of status and settings of the one or more software and hardware components, and analyzing performance of the computing device based on the one or more software and hardware components based on signature profiles of the one or more software and hardware components The process may also include determining one or more solutions for the computing device by the system care program based on the system health and performance of the computing device, and displaying a report including the one or more solutions.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed for identifying software components stored on one or more virtual machines (VM). An installation directory is traversed and an ordered installation index of file paths and content identifiers are created for the files thereof. The installation index may be transmitted to a client that accesses artifact indexes for artifacts of software installed on the VMs. The artifact indexes include file paths and content identifiers for the fields of the artifact. Where all artifacts of a software package are found in the installation index, the package is deemed to be installed and a portal for accessing the VM may be updated to so indicate. The software packages found to be installed on a VM may be evaluated with respect to an application manifest to verify proper provisioning according to the manifest.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a method of detecting a product data error in a storage system. First and second vital product data (VPD) EEPROMs are read. Indicators of whether wither or both reads failed are received. Based on these indicators, the contents of the VPD EEPROMs may be compared. Based on a result of the comparing indicating a match, an arbitrary one of the VPD EEPROMS is used. Based on an indicator indicating an error with the first VPD EEPROM, the second VPD EEPROM is used.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present invention provide a tool for analyzing and remediating an update-related failure. In an embodiment, a failure state of a computer system that has been arrived at as a result of an update is captured. A semantic diff that includes the difference between the failure state and at least one of an original state or a completion state is then computed. This semantic diff is transformed into a feature vector format. Then the transformed semantic diff is analyzed to determine a remediation for the update. Failure and/or resolution signatures can be constructed using the semantic diff and contextual data, and these signatures can be used in comparison and analysis of failures and resolutions.
Abstract:
A system for backup replication comprises a processor and a memory. The processor is configured to determine data present in a most recent backup not present in a previous backup; transmit an extent specification; and transmit data segment fingerprints of the one or more data segments. The memory is coupled to the processor and is configured to provide the processor with instructions.
Abstract:
The subject disclosure relates to analyzing memory allocations for one or more computer-implemented processes. In particular, in conjunction with employing tags for tracking memory allocation commands, currently allocated memory can be examined for various characteristics of inefficient memory use. For example, as memory is initially allocated, a predetermined bit pattern can be written to the newly allocated memory. Thus, detection of the predetermined bit pattern can be indicative of wasted memory use. Moreover, additional features can be provided to both analyze data and present views associated with that analysis relating to identification of memory fragmentation, over-allocation, sparse memory use, duplication of allocations, multiple module loads, and so forth.
