Abstract: Techniques for monitoring the health of services of a system are disclosed. A system determines a health metric for a service in a cloud environment. Additionally, the system determines a first service feature of the service and a plurality of downstream service features that depend on the first service feature. The system determines an impact weight for the first service based on the plurality of downstream service features. Additionally, the system computes a weighted health metric for the service at least by applying the impact weight to the health metric. The system generates a visual representation that includes the weighted health metric for display on a service health interface.

Abstract: Techniques for monitoring the health of services of a system are disclosed. A system determines that a detected alarm is associated with a service feature, and the service feature is associated with a service of a cloud environment. The system computes a health metric for the service based at least on the detected alarm that is associated with the service feature. Additionally, the system generates a visual representation that includes the health metric for display on a service health interface.

Abstract: A method for data storage includes specifying a plurality of File Systems (FSs) for use by multiple clients, including assigning to the FSs both respective global identifiers and respective client-specific names. The plurality of FSs is managed using the global identifiers, and files are stored for the clients in the FSs using the client-specific names.

Abstract: Recovery points can be used for replicating a virtual machine and reverting the virtual machine to a different state. A filter driver can monitor and capture input/output commands between a virtual machine and a virtual machine disk. The captured input/output commands can be used to create a recovery point. The recovery point can be associated with a bitmap that may be used to identify data blocks that have been modified between two versions of the virtual machine. Using this bitmap, a virtual machine may be reverted or restored to a different state by replacing modified data blocks and without replacing the entire virtual machine disk.

Abstract: A system including: one or more processors; a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors are configured to cause the system to: scan a plurality of distributed cloud servers to identify a plurality of distributed cloud applications comprising a scheduler configuration file; determine whether each identified distributed cloud application includes a standard or nonstandard environment; shutdown each distributed cloud application of having a standard environment based on a shutdown schedule; reinitialize each distributed cloud application having a standard cloud environment based on the shutdown schedule; create a restore point for each distributed application having a nonstandard environment; convert the nonstandard environments into standard environments; shut down each distributed cloud application having a nonstandard environment, reinitialize each distributed cloud application having a nonstandard environment, and restore the nonstandard cloud environment based on the created restore points.

Abstract: Live mounting a virtual machine (VM) causes the VM to run off a backup copy or snapshot previously taken of a “live” production VM. The live-mounted VM is generally intended for temporary use such as to validate the integrity and contents of the backup copy for disaster recovery validation, or to access some contents of the backup copy from the live-mounted VM without restoring all backed up files. These uses contemplate that changes occurring during live mount are not preserved after the live-mounted VM expires or is taken down. Thus, live mounting a VM is not a restore operation and usually does not involve access to every block of data in the backup copy. However, live mounting provides live VM service in the cloud sooner than waiting for all of the backup copy/snapshot to be restored.

Abstract: A virtual function (VF) of a virtual machine is enabled to directly reset a processing portion of a processing unit. The VF initiates the reset of the processing portion directly and a host driver associated with the processing unit is bypassed during the reset process. By allowing for a direct reset of the processing portion, a processing system reduces the overhead associated with the reset process, enhances system security, and improves overall VM and hardware isolation at the processing system.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for migrating a virtual machine (VM) having a virtual function that maps resources of an artificial intelligence (AI) accelerator to the VM. A driver for the AI accelerator can generate a checkpoint of VM processes that make calls to the AI accelerator, and can the checkpoint can include a list and configuration of resources mapped to the AI accelerator by the virtual function. The driver can also access the code, data, and memory of the AI accelerator to generate a checkpoint of the AI accelerator status. When the VM is migrated to a new host, then either, or both, of these checkpoint frames can be used to ensure that resuming the VM on a new host having appropriate AI accelerator resources, can be successful resumed on the new host. One or both checkpoint frames can be captured based upon an event, in anticipation of the need to migrate the VM.
