Abstract:
A single prong, multiple signal conducting plug and plug detection circuitry is provided. The plug may be electrically coupled to a stereo headset including a microphone. The plug may include four signal conducting regions arranged in a predetermined order along the length of the prong. Detection circuitry may be operative to determine whether a microphone type of plug (e.g., a four region plug including a microphone region and two audio regions, or a three region plug including microphone region and only one audio region) or a non-microphone type of plug (e.g., stereo plug) is inserted into the jack of an electronic device (e.g., mobile phone). Detection circuitry may also detect user activated functions performed in response to user activation of one or more switches included with the headset. For example, the headset may include a single switch for performing a function with respect to a microphone (e.g., end-call function).

Abstract:
A plenum-rated surface mount box includes a main panel and a pair of side walls attached to opposite ends of the main panel. At least one of the side walls includes a recess configured to receive a connector adapter. The main panel and side walls are formed as a unitary structure and comprise a polymeric material. This configuration can simplify manufacture, installation of the box on a wall or to an existing electrical box, and/or installation of cables and adapters.
Abstract:
A phone plug connector device having a preassembled phone plug and connector, wherein the phone plug includes a conductive tip and a stem, wherein the connector connects the phone plug to a coaxial cable, wherein the coaxial cable comprises a center conductor surrounded by a first dielectric, the first dielectric being surrounded by a first conductive sheath, and the first conductive sheath surrounded by a protective outer jacket, wherein the connector connects the coaxial cable to the phone plug mechanically and electrically by compression.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a universal serial bus (USB) connector for use in a base unit in a car kit comprising at least two pairs of shielded connection lines. It further relates to a USB cable for providing a shielded connection between a mobile unit and a car kit adaptor. The USB connector for use in a base unit in a car-kit comprises two twin axial connectors (430) including two inner contacts separated by a dielectric and further adapted to be connected to respective complementary connectors and two pairs of shielded connection lines (104 and 104′). Each pair is connected to a twin axial connector (430). Further, a shielded USB bridge (100) connects the two pairs of connection lines (104 and 104′) to four cable terminations (106) to form a USB line (108).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a connecting strip (1) for telecommunications and mid-range communications technology, comprising a housing (2) and at least two contact elements (11), wherein the contact element (11) comprises a first contact (12) for the connection of wires or cables and a second contact (13) for contacting a printed circuit board, the second contact (13) taking the form of a press-fit pin contact or a tuning-fork contact, and in which the first contact (12) is aligned towards the upper side (3) of the housing (2), and the second contact (13) is aligned towards the underside (4) of the housing (2), the first contacts (12) being arranged laterally offset from the longitudinal axis (L) of the housing (2), and on the opposite side at least one fin (8) being arranged so that between the first contacts (12) and the fin (8) a trench (9) is formed, the contact element (11) being constructed with a bracket (15) positioned above the second contact (13), aligned towards the upper side (3) of the housing (2), and arranged underneath the trench (9).
Abstract:
An electrical connector assembly for terminating first and second electrical wires, the electrical connector assembly comprising a housing including a compartment for receiving first and second IDC elements and a cap movably mounted to the housing to cover the compartment. The cap is movable between an open position and a closed position. The cap includes a general body portion, a wire retention portion, and a latching mechanism. The wire retention portion includes first and second wire holders to retain and align the respective electrical wires within the housing for engagement with a gripping portion of the respective IDC element when the cap is placed in a closed position. The gripping force of the wire holders is less than a gripping force of the IDC elements. The latching mechanism can releasably fasten the cap to the housing when the cap is placed in a closed position. When the cap is returned to an open position after the cap was placed in the closed position, the first and second wires are retained by the first and second IDC elements and the first and second wire holders disengage the first and second wires from the cap.
