Abstract:
The present invention relates to an electronic signal switching module with connectors on a first side for connecting with a variety of devices and sources and with jacks for receiving patch cords on a second side. The switching modules include two position switches in the circuitry connecting the jacks with the connectors which allow the module to be configured as a straight-through patching module, a fully normal module with paired jacks or a half normal module with paired jacks. One alternative of the invention utilizes card edge connectors on the first side. Another aspect of the invention involves a chassis for holding a plurality of switching modules adjacent to and electronically connected with a plurality of connecting modules. The switching modules may also include designation lenses adjacent to the jacks for holding indicia.

A cross-connect module is disclosed herein. The cross-connect module includes a housing having a front end and a rear end. The rear end includes a rear wall defining connector mounting openings. First and second switching jacks are positioned adjacent the front end of the housing. Rear connectors mount within the connector mounting openings. Cables electrically couple the rear connectors to the switching jacks. A tracer lamp circuit including a power connector and a pin jack are also provided. In depicted embodiments, the rear connectors, the pin jack and the power connector are secured to the rear wall of the housing by snap-fit connections. The depicted module also includes a front cover having structure for providing snap-fit connections with the switching devices.

A signal management system that includes a chassis and a plurality of signal management modules supported by said chassis. One of the input and output connectors is a miniature coaxial connector. Each of the input and output connectors of the modules being connected to cables carrying one of either RF and optical signals.

The present invention is directed to an exterior telephone service interface for exterior mounting at a customer's premises. The telephone service interface combines both a terminal chamber for delivery of telephone service to the customer and a splicing chamber for connection to the incoming telephone service lines into a single wall mountable unite. The combination terminal chamber and splicing chamber can accommodate a plurality of splices and terminal interfaces and reduces installation time significantly.

The disclosure describes an active network interface device (NID) enclosure having a modular construction that provides flexibility to a vendor and permits independent access to technician-accessible connections and subscriber-accessible connections while promoting resistance to environmental and security threats. The active NID enclosure includes an electronics enclosure and an access enclosure. The electronics enclosure contains active electronic components for conversion of data carried on a network signal carrier into services for delivery to subscriber devices. The access enclosure includes two separate access compartments, having separate covers, for independent access to either network terminals or subscriber terminals.

A telecommunication assembly having a plurality of slots for receiving a plurality of modules therein. The telecommunication assembly couples to a telecommunication network and includes a plurality of distinct backplane circuit boards secured therein for each coupling to one of the plurality of modules. Each of the plurality of distinct backplane circuit boards includes a bounding edge, a back side partially encompassed by the bounding edge, a plurality of first connectors coupled to the back side for receiving a telecommunication signal from the telecommunication network, a front side coupled to the back side, and a second connector mounted on the front side and spaced apart from the at least one jack for coupling to one of the plurality of modules. The telecommunication assembly is operable with one or more of the plurality of distinct backplane circuit boards removed from the assembly and the assembly allows for two pieces of telecommunications equipment to be connected without a module being installed in the assembly. In addition, a “make before break” circuit is provided between each backplane and coupling module.

A telecommunications patch panel is provided having a plurality of connector modules rotatably mounted to a frame member. Each connector module has a front face and an opposite facing rear face, and each front face includes a plurality of connector jacks. Each rear face includes a plurality of wire termination blocks. The wire termination blocks are electrically connected to the connector jacks. Each connector module is rotatable about a rotation axis relative to the frame member. A lock selectively locks each connector module to the frame member as desired. The connector jacks and the connector modules are arranged in linear arrays perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
