Abstract:
This invention relates to a process for metalizing polyolefin film in which at least one outermost layer of the unmetalized polyolefin film has at least about 90% cycloolefin polymer that has not been subjected to a process for increasing surface tension before metalization. The metalized films are useful as dielectrics in capacitors.
Abstract:
The present invention provides for an etch and mar resistant low VOC clear coating composition most suitable for use as a top clear coat in multi-layered OEM or refinish automotive coatings. The coating composition includes isocyanate, carbonate and melamine components. The isocyanate component includes an aliphatic polyisocyanate. The composition may be formulated as a two-pack or one-pack coating composition, wherein the isocyanate functionalities are blocked with a blocker such as a mono-alcohol.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for applying a non-permeable, ceramic layer of a thickness of not more than about 100 &mgr;m to a ceramic or metallic body by applying a solution of one or more elastomers, which elastomers contain substantially not exclusively sulfur, carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, optionally drying, and pyrolyzing to form a porous layer and subsequently sintering at increased temperature to form a non-permeable ceramic layer.
Abstract:
A cellulose-based fire retardant composition is made by (1) adding cellulose to water, thereby forming a solution; (2) adding liquid ammonia to the solution; and (3) subsequently adding solid diammonium phosphate to the solution, thereby forming a viscous cellulose-based fire retardant liquid.
Abstract:
A system, such as a gap drying system, moves a substrate having a substrate tension over a curved plate at a substrate speed such that the substrate floats over at least a region of substantially constant clearance (H0) between the substrate and the curved plate. H0 is controlled without adjusting the substrate speed and without adjusting the substrate tension.
Abstract:
Silylcyclopentasilane and a solution composition for forming a silicon film containing the same, which is used for forming a silicon film on the surface of a substrate. There is also disclosed spiro[4.4] nonasilane.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a fluorine-containing surface treatment composition comprising a surface treatment component and a solvent component wherein the solvent component contains 5 wt. % or more of a chlorine-free, non-flammable halogen-containing solvent which has an ozone depletion potential (ODP) of 0.03 or less, a 100-year integrated global warming potential (GWP) value of 500 or less, and a KB value of 5 or more. The fluorine-containing surface treatment composition of the present invention is a surface treatment agent that is extremely unlikely to cause ozone layer depletion and global warming, has excellent storage stability and excellent performance characteristics as a surface treatment agent and is highly safe due to the non-flammability or flame retardancy thereof.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method of treating of a substrate by contacting the substrate with a fluorochemical composition that comprises a condensation product of a di- or tri-isocyanate and at least one polyether, the polyether being obtained as the reaction product of a fluorochemical substituted epoxide. Substrates treated in accordance with the invention have good stain release properties, particularly to oil stains or tea stains, so stains can be more easily removed from the treated substrate in a laundering procedure.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus of fabricating electromagnetic coil vanes. The method involves photolithographically exposing high resolution, dense wire patterns in a flash coat of copper, on both sides of a ceramic vane substrate. The substrate can be pre-drilled with a through hole to connect the two copper coil patterns. Additional copper is then deposited on both high resolution patterns and in the through hole by plating until the desired thickness is obtained. A firing operation is then performed that eutectically bonds the copper to the ceramic.
Abstract:
A polymer-coated metal fastener is provided which has both improved ease of drive into a substrate, and improved resistance to withdrawal from the substrate. The coated fastener is prepared by heating a metal fastener, or a portion of it, to about 400-2000° F. and cooling in an aqueous medium containing an acrylic or modified acrylic polymer. The rapid cooling causes formation of a thin yet durable polymer coating on the fastener.
