Abstract:
An enhanced, flooding-based link state routing protocol is described that provides pruning of link state data and, when needed, rate-controlled refresh of the pruned link state data from other routers of the flooding domain. A routing device comprises a network interface to send and receive packets over a layer-two (L2) communication medium. The routing device includes a control unit coupled to the network interface, and a flooding-based link state routing protocol executing on a processor of the control unit. The link-state routing protocol establishes an adjacency with a peer router. A database of the routing device includes entries that store a plurality of link state messages for a flooding domain of the link state routing protocol, wherein at least one of the entries in the database stores a partial link state message having a header portion and a payload having pruned link state data.
Abstract:
A swellable packer with an enhanced sealing ability comprises a tubular body, a swellable element, and a filler ring disposed about the tubular body between the tubular body and the swellable element. The filler ring is formed of a material harder than the swellable element. The filler ring enhances the sealing ability of the swellable packer. Any number of filler rings may be used. The filler ring or rings may be fixed to the tubular body or may be unfixed.

Abstract:
A mechanism for locating information about a target entity in disparate multilevel hierarchical knowledge repositories. Upon occurrence of an event associated with a target entity comprising an information technology solution, disparate multilevel hierarchical knowledge repositories are searched for metadata about the target entity. A determination is made from the metadata about the target entity whether the repositories comprise entities related to the target entity. If so, links in the metadata are used to search the repositories to locate the related entities. Upon locating a resolution to the event in the repositories, a link to the resolution is stored in the metadata. The repositories are also searched to determine owners of the target entity and related entities, and these owners are then notified of the event and the resolution to the event.
Abstract:
Survey tool for performing as-built survey measurements with improved accuracy by engaging with and centering on stationary fasteners. The survey tool has a substantially conical receiver with a narrow end and a wide end, the wide end adapted for centering on stationary fasteners of various sizes. A connector is coupled to the narrow end of the conical receiver and is adapted for engaging a rod.
Abstract:
A thermal cycling apparatus 9 and process includes at least one reaction vessel 14 which is associated with a thermoelectric cooler 12 (TEC), such as a Peltier cell, and arranged to provide both heating and cooling of the reaction vessel. A first side of the TEC 12 is associated with the at least one reaction vessel 14 and a second side of the TEC is arranged in use to be maintained at a temperature intermediate the highest temperature and the lowest temperature used in a thermal cycling operation. Electric current is supplied to the TEC 12 in one direction whereby the said first side becomes hotter than the second side, and then in the other direction whereby the first side becomes cooler than the second side.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises logic for optimizing network resources usage. The logic is operable to store IGP information, where the IGP information includes a set of attribute values associated with each of a set of content servers. When the logic receives a request for content from a remote peer, the logic determines one or more content servers that can provide the requested content. The logic then retrieves, from the IGP information, a plurality of attribute values associated with a non-looping path from each of the one or more content servers. For each of the one or more content servers, the retrieved attribute values include: one or more capacity values indicating capacities of one or more communication links on the non-looping path from that content server; and one or more utilization values indicating utilizations of the one or more communication links on the non-looping path from that content server. The logic then selects a content server based on the retrieved attribute values, and causes the request for the content to be sent to the selected content server.
Abstract:
A steering column assembly includes a steering column shroud comprising an inner member and an outer member, the inner member being at least partially received within the outer member, a support bracket which is fixed in position relative to a part of the vehicle, the outer member passing between two spaced apart arms of the bracket, and a clamp assembly which includes a cam mechanism movable between a locked position in which the clamp mechanism fixes the inner member and outer member in position relative to the support bracket and an unlocked position in which the clamp mechanism permits movement of at least one of the inner and outer members relative to the support bracket. The clamp assembly includes a clamp pin which passes through openings in each of the two arms of the bracket, the clamp pin being provided with a first reaction member located towards one end of the pin outside of one arm of the clamp bracket and a second reaction member located towards the other end of the clamp pin outside of the other arm of the clamp bracket such that the arms of the bracket are clamped between the reaction members so as to provide a pre-load to the bracket arms, and in which both reaction members are prevented from rotating relative to the pin during use, and one reaction member is located at least partially within a cavity formed in a part of the cam mechanism. The outer member may also include an elongate slit that extends beyond a steering lock mechanism fitted to the assembly.
Abstract:
According to one aspect of the present invention, a method includes obtaining a first advertisement at a first provider edge (PE) device from a first customer edge (CE) device that is associated with a virtual private network, and sending a second advertisement on a control plane path associated with a border gateway protocol after obtaining the first advertisement. The first PE device has a routing and forwarding table. The first advertisement identifies a plurality of local routes associated with the first VPN, and includes a first indication that information relating to the plurality of local routes is not to be stored in the routing and forwarding table. The second advertisement identifies the local routes, an address of the first CE device, and the first CE device as a next hop.
Abstract:
A system for resolving address conflicts in a network. In an illustrative embodiment, the system includes an address-configuration module that is adapted to assign addresses to one or more devices. The one or more devices are connected to the network via device interfaces. An interface-monitoring module communicates with the address-configuration module. The interface-monitoring module is adapted to determine when an address conflict involving plural addresses occurs and to provide a signal in response thereto. A conflict-resolution module is adapted to selectively terminate one or more device interfaces associated with the plural addresses in response to the signal and based on the addresses and one or more predetermined precedence rules. In a more specific embodiment, the system further employs a user interface for facilitating selectively adjusting the precedence rules. The conflict-resolution module runs one or more routines adapted to implement a static conflict-resolution policy, a longest-prefix policy, a highest-address policy, and/or an interface-identifier policy for Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.
