Abstract:
A method and system for reporting medical data including both current and past medical results for medical tests performed on a patient is provided. The medical data is output in columns, and the current results and past results of the same medical test are presented in the same row. In this manner, the report is provided in a layout that has rows and columns, so that all current results are presented in one column, and all past results are presented in a separate column. In addition, graphs of the medical results can be displayed to illustrate current and past medical results in a view that allows for trend and comparative diagnosis.
Abstract:
The invention provides methods and compositions for the treatment of lameness, navicular syndrome, osteoarthritis, or combinations thereof in horses.
Abstract:
The invention provides methods and compositions for inhibiting binding of IgE to a high affinity receptor. The methods and compositions are useful in the treatment of allergic diseases and allergy symptoms in mammals.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for use with a biological sample include a microscopy device, a diluent, a sample holder, and one or more of lyophilized cakes comprising artificial particles. The lyophilized cakes and the biological sample are mixed with the diluent in the sample holder to form a solution. The biological sample is imaged with the artificial particles as reference markers using the microscopy device. A settling time of the artificial particles is shorter than or equal to a settling time of the biological sample.
Abstract:
A collection device for examining fecal matter to determine whether a patient is afflicted with parasites includes a particle accumulating plug mounted on an end of a collection tube containing a fecal specimen. The particle accumulating plug includes an inner wall that defines an inverted funnel. A pipetting port is formed through the inner wall at the apex of the inverted funnel allowing the tip of a pipette to enter the port and aspirate the ova or eggs, or other parasite cells, that have separated from the fecal specimen. The conical shape of the inner wall of the plug directs the separated parasite ova or eggs towards the pipetting port and to accumulate within the volume of the funnel of the plug so that a desired volume of fluid containing a concentrated quantity of parasite ova or eggs may be aspirated into the pipette tip through the pipetting port.
Abstract:
Techniques for determining a failure condition of a well of an assay container using image data are described. In some embodiments, a system receives image data representing a first plurality of wells, each of the first plurality of wells holding a biological sample and one or more particles configured to fluoresce in response to binding with a target entity when present in a respective well, analyzes the image data to determine, for a first plurality of pixels corresponding to a first well of the first plurality of wells, a first pixel intensity value, determines that the first pixel intensity value is greater than a first threshold value, and generates first output data indicating that the first well corresponds to a failure condition in response to determining that the first pixel intensity value is greater than the first threshold value.
Abstract:
A method for method for analyzing a droplet on a surface of a module. The method includes: (i) receiving, via a port of a carrier interfaced with the module, a sample, wherein the carrier port is in fluid communication with a reservoir of the module; (ii) transporting, via a plurality of electrodes of the module, along a surface of the module, the droplet, wherein the droplet comprises a portion of the sample and a plurality of particles; (iii) immobilizing, at a location on the surface of the module, the droplet; and (iv) analyzing, while the droplet is immobilized at the location on the surface of the module, the droplet.
Abstract:
A flow cytometer of a blood analyzer including a transverse-electric (TE) laser diode, a flow cell, a quarter wave plate (QWP), a plurality of lenses, and a side scatter detector. The TE laser diode is configured to output a laser beam along an optical axis and has a fast axis full width at half maximum (FWHM) divergence of from about 16 degrees to about 25 degrees. The QWP is disposed along the optical axis between the TE laser diode and the flow cell and configured to circularly polarize the laser beam. The plurality of lenses is disposed between the TE laser diode and the flow cell and configured to focus the laser beam at the flow cell.
Abstract:
Lateral flow immunoassay devices and associated reagents for determining the presence of one or more analytes in liquid samples. A detection zone on a membrane that supports lateral flow includes an immobilized and dried capture reagent including a first antibody conjugated with a first binding partner bound to a second binding partner that is attached to particle.
