Abstract:
A keyboard illumination system comprises an electronic device having a keyboard with at least one keycap, the at least one keycap having disposed thereon at least two different legends, at least one of the two different legends visible in response to being illuminated with an ultraviolet (UV) light source, the electronic device configured to register input of the at least one legend while the UV light source is activated.
Abstract:
A device cooling system comprises a heat pipe disposed in a device, the heat pipe having a condenser portion and at least two divergent evaporator portions, the at least two evaporator portions coupled to at least one heat-generating component of the device.
Abstract:
Embodiments of a pen/stylus apparatus are disclosed. In one embodiment, among others, a pen/stylus apparatus comprises a chamber configured to receive a pen, a holding element having a shaft, the holding element configured to retain the pen in a partially-ejected position, a button having a retainer, the retainer configured to retain the shaft when the pen is completely-inserted in the chamber, and a biasing element adjacent to the holding element, the biasing element configured to eject the holding element to a position corresponding to the partially-ejected position of the pen when the retainer is released from the shaft.
Abstract:
A computer base unit is disclosed, among other apparatus and methods. One embodiment of a computer base unit has a panel, the panel comprising a hinge post and a hinge mount, the hinge post configured to couple to a shaft-in-shaft hinge and the hinge mount configured to couple to a swivel hinge assembly.
Abstract:
A computer device comprising a connector configured to be coupled to an external device, the connector configured to be disposed flush with an opening in a housing of the computer device in an extended position, the connector configured to retract from the opening in a retracted position.
Abstract:
A system comprises a hinged antenna adapted to reside within a slot, an electrical cable connected to the antenna, and a cable tension mechanism. The cable tension mechanism receives the electrical cable from the antenna and pulls on the cable when the hinged antenna is in the slot and also when the hinged antenna is rotated to a deployed position at least partially outside the slot.
Abstract:
A computing device cooling system comprising a heat transport element for transferring heat from a heat generating component of a computing device to a heat dissipation element of the computing device, the heat transport element having at least one flexible section to facilitate bending of the heat transport element.
Abstract:
A computer device comprises a base member having a top cover couplable to a housing, the top cover formed using a mineral-enhanced resin mixture.
Abstract:
A system and related method of a computer card slot and a bezel. Some of the exemplary embodiments may be a portable computer comprising a computer card slot accessible through an aperture in a housing of the portable computer, a card reader electrically coupled within the computer card slot, and a bezel mechanically abutting an outer end of the card reader (at least a portion of an outer face of the bezel substantially coplanar with the housing). The computer card slot comprises a computer card ejection actuation mechanism proximate to the aperture in the first side, and wherein the bezel at least partially covers the ejection actuation mechanism.
Abstract:
A hard disk drive is removably insertable into a portable computer base housing through a first opening therein to position the disk drive in a side-by-side relationship with a battery pack removable from within the housing through a second opening therein. In response to the insertion of the disk drive, a security latch mechanism within the housing releasably locks the disk drive therein. The latch mechanism has a movable release portion which is disposed within the housing, with manual access to the release portion being blocked by the battery pack which must be removed to permit the release portion to be operated to allow the disk drive to be removed from the housing. A latch member is positioned on a bottom exterior side portion of the housing and is operable to permit removal of the battery pack from the housing to provide access to the interior disk drive latch mechanism release portion. The disk drive is mounted within a frame-shaped carrier tray slidable into the housing interior between opposed guide rail members. To further deter unauthorized physical access to he inserted disk drive, a security screw is threaded through one of the guide rails into the carrier tray.
