Abstract: A percutaneous catheter system for use within the human body and an ablation catheter for ablating a selected tissue region within the body of a subject. The percutaneous catheter system can include two catheters that are operatively coupled to one another by magnetic coupling through a tissue structure. The ablation catheter can include electrodes positioned within a central portion. The ablation catheter is positioned such that the central portion of a flexible shaft at least partially surrounds the selected tissue region. Each electrode of the ablation catheter can be activated independently to apply ablative energy to the selected tissue region. The ablation catheter can employ high impedance structures to change the current density at specific points. Methods of puncturing through a tissue structure using the percutaneous catheter system are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for ablating a selected tissue region using the ablation catheter.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods of inhibiting or preventing photophobia in subjects in need thereof using anti-CGRP antibodies or antibody fragments that inhibit photophobia, especially CGRP-associated photophobia. These antibodies and fragments are useful in treating different disorders associated with photophobia such as migraine, cluster headaches and the like.
The present invention also provides assays using transgenic Nestin/Ramp1 rodents, utilizing a CGRP model light aversive behavior model for identifying therapeutically effective anti-CGRP antibodies and fragments thereof having binding specificity for CGRP which inhibit or prevent photophobia in subjects in need thereof. The present invention is specifically directed to methods for identifying therapeutically effective antibodies and fragments thereof having binding specificity for CGRP that may be used to treat CGRP associated disorders such as migraine. Specifically, this invention relates to assays and therapies using the antibodies described herein to inhibit or prevent photophobia, and binding fragments thereof, comprising the sequences of the VH, VL and CDR polypeptides described herein, and the polynucleotides encoding them.-

Abstract: A scintillating material that is a radiation hardened plastic and flexible elastomer is disclosed. The material is useful in a wide range of high energy particle environments and can be used to create detectors. Such detectors can be used in physics experiments or in medical treatment or imaging. The scintillator can be radiation hardened so as to allow for an extended lifetime over other materials.

Abstract: A method and a device for cascading broadband emission is described. The device may comprise a substrate, a bottom contact layer above at least a portion of the substrate, and a plurality of emission regions above the bottom contact layer. The plurality of emission regions may be disposed one above another. Each of the plurality of emission regions may be configured with different respective bandgaps to emit radiation of different wavelengths. The device may comprise a plurality of tunnel junctions and a top contact layer above the plurality of emission regions. The plurality of emission regions may comprise a W-superlattice comprising an electron-well layer, a hole-well layer and an electron confinement layer. Semiconductor layers of the W-superlattice may include AlAsSb, InAs, InGaSb, and InAs. Exemplary embodiments of the W-superlattice may comprise a W-quantum well.
