Abstract:
A coil spring made of a shape memory alloy is seated within the container a portable dispenser in a contracted condition under compressive stress maintained by the physical constraint of a pressure plate engaging a collapsible enclosure internally lining the dispenser container to isolate therein material to be dispensed. The pseudoelastic properties of the shape memory alloy are selected to exclusively regulate the storage and delivery pressures in order to accommodate different materials to be dispensed and control discharge thereof by the dispenser.
Abstract:
A shape-memory alloy material is liquefied by heating for casting into sts that are coated with an adherent material and collected into a preshaped porous mass so as to assume a preshaped configuration and be restored thereto under selected temperature conditions. When installed into a composite structure, the preshaped porous mass endows the composite structure with the shape-memory properties of the strips.
Abstract:
In the consolidation by atmospheric pressure of nickel-titanium alloy powders, the improvement comprising slowly cooling down the consolidated alloy objects under a high pressure.
Abstract:
A method of producing homogeneous nickel-titanium base shape change memorylloys which includes the following steps in order:(1) converting a conventionally prepared nickel-titanium base shape change memory alloy into particles which are in the form of powder, shot, chips, or flakes;(2) blending or mixing the nickel-titanium base alloy particles;(3) melting the nickel-titanium base alloy particles; and(4) allowing the molten nickel-titanium base alloy to solidify into a desired shape.
Abstract:
A test system comprises a propulsion unit for directing salvos of ballisticragments in a planar wave to a target of test material. The fragments are stroboscopically illuminated for photographic recording of the test results.
Abstract:
A beverage filter cartridge for use in a single serve beverage brewing machine, the cartridge including a open ended cup with an open top and closed bottom with a cup-shaped filter pouch containing a beverage material sealed to the inside thereof proximate to a top end. The top end includes a flange to which a cover is sealed to prevent spoilage of the beverage material by atmospheric oxygen. The cartridge includes a filter bag with a dry beverage material. The inner surface of the cup has a series of vertically oriented channels which allow for the brewed beverage to flow out of the sides of the filter bag and down the channels before exiting the cartridge at the bottom. The brewed beverage can flow out of the bottom of the cartridge either via the side of the filter bag through the channels or through the bottom of the filter bag.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a glass laboratory apparatus that includes a pre filter and a main filter to scrub solids from a gas using water filtration. A preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a main vessel adapted to hold a volume of a liquid such as water and an inlet conduit with an opening above the liquid level in the main vessel and an outlet below the surface of the liquid level in the main vessel. A pre filter arranges in the inlet conduit at a level above the liquid level in the main vessel. A main filter is located below the water level in the main vessel. A negative pressure is supplied to draw a gas through the first, pre-filter, through the water and second main filter.
Abstract:
