Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer and an illumination device. The first substrate includes a base, a sensor, a sensor circuit and a sensor light-shielding layer. The sensor is located between the base and the liquid crystal layer in a display area that includes pixels, and outputs a detection signal corresponding to light becoming incident from a side of the liquid crystal layer. The sensor circuit includes a switching element and is connected to the sensor. The sensor light-shielding layer is opposed to a channel area formed in a semiconductor layer included in the switching element, and blocks light from the illumination device on the channel area.

The second electrode is juxtaposed with the curved portion. The detection lines each include a first line coupled to the first electrode and a second line coupled to the second electrode. The second line passes from the display region across the peripheral region and extends to a position overlapping with the second electrode in a plan view.

Abstract: The purpose of the invention is to suppress image persistence. The structure if the invention is as follows: A liquid crystal display device comprising: scanning lines extending in a first direction and arranged in a second direction, video signal lines arranged to cross the scanning lines, a pixel area is surrounded by the scanning lines and the video signal lines, a pixel electrode is formed in the pixel area, wherein conductive wirings are formed over the video signal lines via an organic insulating film in a plan view in the display area where images are displayed, a width in the first direction of the conductive wiring is bigger than a width in the first direction of the video signal line, an amount that the conductive wiring protrude the video signal line in a plan view is essentially the same in both side of the video signal line.

Abstract: To provide a thin liquid crystal display device featuring excellent color reproducibility. The liquid crystal display panel includes: a liquid crystal display panel outputting different colors on a per-pixel basis; and a backlight. The backlight includes: a light source; a light guide; a reflective sheet on a back side of the light guide; and a group of optical sheets including a wavelength converter and disposed between the liquid crystal display panel and the light guide. The wavelength converter has a structure where quantum dots are dispersed in a transparent medium. The wavelength converter is bonded to another optical medium by means of a diffusing adhesive. Nanoparticles for developing Rayleigh scattering are dispersed in the wavelength converter.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a thin-film transistor (TFT) substrate and a counter substrate disposed opposite to the TFT substrate. The TFT substrate has a scanning line, a video signal line, and a TFT formed thereon, the TFT being connected to the scanning line and video signal line. The TFT substrate and the counter substrate sandwich liquid crystal therebetween. The TFT substrate has a first electrode connected to the TFT, an insulating film, and a second electrode disposed opposite to the first electrode with the insulating film interposed therebetween. The TFT substrate further has a third electrode formed in the same layer as that of the scanning line. The second electrode has an opening formed between the third electrode and the liquid crystal.
