Abstract:
An electromagnetic switching device includes a mechanism to couple the magnet armature with its contact carrier. A plate spring is provided with cylindrical formations in its mid-section as well as on its opposite ends so that the plate spring can bend beyond its elongated state. This prevents the spring tension from being altered by contact with the ends of the opening of the magnet armature and the ends of the supporting slots.
Abstract:
The production of wood material particles into board or panels, such as chipboard, fiberboard, OSB panels, MDF panels and the like, involves coating the particles with a binder free of any hardener. The coated particles are deposited on a support surface in the form of a mat and then are compressed. While the particles are beng compressed in a press, an acid or basic hardener in a gaseous phase or in a binary phase with a gaseous carrier agent, is introduced across and into the surface of the mat or directly into the interior mat. The compression of the mat can be performed either in a continuous double band press or a discontinuous single or multi-platen press. In a double band press, two press bands are arranged in opposed relation and the hardener is introduced into the mat in a wedge-shaped inlet zone between the press bands. The hardener flows through openings in the press band onto the surface of the mat. Conduits are located in pressure plates associated with the press and bores extend from the conduits to the pressure plate surfaces in contact with the mat.
Abstract:
A process for continuous fabrication of thermoplastic webs from at least one extruded thermoplastic web heated to processing temperature. This thermoplastic web is cooled under the application of area pressure down to a temperature at which smoothing of the surface is terminated. A calibrating and smoothing mechanism in the device for performing the process according to the invention consists of a double-band press which includes an apparatus for conducting heat away from the thermoplastic web in the reaction zone in which the area pressure is applied.
Abstract:
A process and device for subdivision of a continuously fabricated metal backed laminate web into individual panels of any size, uses a computer and a numerically controlled saw. A contour path is controlled by the computer. A saw blade of the saw located in the saw head has a side support at the severance edges to be cut. This side support contains small cutter plates which are applied with one of their side faces against the saw blade with slight pressure. Each support has an additional narrow edge surface which is held against the metal backed laminate web. For trimming pressed edges of the web that are cured without pressure, fixed circular saws with their own side supports are arranged at the edge of the metal backed laminate web, upstream of the saw head.
Abstract:
A double band press is used for processing a continuous sheet material passing through the press. The press includes a rigid press frame including reversing drums mounted in bearing supports on the frame. An upper and a lower endless press belt run over different ones of the drums and each press belt in combination with a pressure plate and sliding seal form a pressure chamber for exerting pressure against a reaction zone located between adjacent runs of the press belts. The sliding seal is positioned within a groove in the pressure plate and is displaceable and is pressed toward the inner surface of the press belt. A fluid pressure medium in the pressure chamber provides the pressing action on the press belt. The sliding seal includes a metal body with a surface facing the inner surface of the press belt and a dry surface layer is provided in the surface facing the press belt so that the dry surface layer is in sliding frictional contact with the press belt.
Abstract:
A process of heating parts of a double band press used in pressing a material moving through the press involves heating a heat transfer medium and flowing it through the press parts in a first direction and, at specific time intervals, reversing the direction of flow so that it passes in the opposite direction. By periodically reversing the direction of flow, differential thermal expansion is avoided within the press parts. In a device for carrying out the proces, a supply line and a return line are connected to a device for heating the return heat transfer medium. A reversing valve is connected to the supply and return line so that the direction of flow of the heat transfer medium through the press parts can be reversed for providing a balanced heating effect.
Abstract:
In a double band press each of the press belts has an associated pressure chamber in which fluid pressure medium acts to pressurize the sheet form material passed between the press belts. Each pressure chamber is formed by a pressure plate, the associted press belt and a sliding surface seal mounted in a groove in the pressure plate with the seal in sliding contact with the press belt. The sliding surface seal is secured within a retaining member fitted with narrow play into a groove in the pressure plate. Each press belt extends horizontally between a pair of spaced rollers. The retaining member is vertically displaceable within the groove. Support members located within the pressure chamber secure the retaining member to the pressure plate. A groove seal in the form of an O-ring is located between the base of the groove and the retaining member and is in contact with the opposite sides of the groove. connecting passageways extend between the pressure chamber and the base of the groove so that the fluid pressure medium within the pressure chamber has access to the base of the groove.
Abstract:
An a.c. contactor with an armature activated by a magnetic system, which is effectively connected to a return spring-loaded contactor onto which the movable contact component of the contact system is mounted. The contact carrier is herein fitted with an auxiliary mass and placed in effective contact with the armature by a coupling spring, wherein the auxiliary mass is movable in relationship to the contact carrier and an additional spacer bar component, with which the armature is coupled. The coupling spring supported on one end by the contact carrier, can on the other end connect to an offset end of the spacer component which is pressed against the auxiliary mass, whereby the auxiliary mass connects with a catch of a contact carrier or else is spring-loaded against the direction of motion of the contact carrier towards a stop on the contact carrier via a separate auxiliary spring. These improvements dampen and delay the recoil of the contact carrier experienced during switching of the a.c. contactor.
Abstract:
In profiling the surface of a metal strip, particularly pressed strips for use in double band presses, the pressed strip is provided with graduations on a surface outside of the surface to be profiled. The graduations on the strip correspond to graduations on a tool used to profile the strip surface. With the graduations on both strip and tool in register, synchronized movements of the strip and the tool is effected with the strip being rolled into surface contact with the profiling surface of the tool so that the profiling surface of the tool is reproduced on the strip.
Abstract:
A continuous-acting press, such as used in press laminates, chipboards, fiberboards, plywood, electrical laminates and the like into a continuous web, is made up of an upper and a lower multi-layered band set. Each band set passes over a pair of return rollers and includes a plurality of mutually contacting press bands. Lateral displacement of the press bands in the multi-layered band sets is prevented since alternating grooves and lands are formed in the contacting surfaces of the press bands so that the lands and grooves interengage. The grooves and lands are continuous in the travel direction of the band sets. To close the reaction zone formed by the space between the upper and lower band set, a wire travels along each of the opposite sides of the space at the same speed as the material being pressed and each wire seats in a pair of grooves formed in the mutually facing surfaces of the upper and lower multi-layered band sets. Accordingly, the space is closed and optimum process conditions for the material being pressed can be maintained.
