Abstract:
A vessel includes an outer wall and an inner wall arranged at a distance therefrom within the vessel and leaving an annular space relative to the outer wall. The inner wall is supported on the outer wall so as to allow for relative movements. In order to provide a vessel with which the danger of oscillations of the inner wall is avoided, with which a simple supply of medium is possible, which is easy to clean and with which the danger of an implosion of the inner wall is reduced, the inner wall is comprised of individual annular sections subsequently arranged in an axial direction of the vessel. Each section is supported on the outer wall independently of the other sections. An expansion joint is provided between two neighboring annular sections each.
Abstract:
An inner cylindrical shell assembly includes a metal cylinder with the wall thereof divided along at least one but typically a plurality of longitudinal parting lines. A stress compensator tube extends along each parting line and is welded to the edge surfaces of the metal cylinder. An inner stratum of solid corundum bricks overlies an outer stratum of corundum bricks which has internal spherical hollows. These strata of bricks are retained under stress within the inner cylindrical shell assembly. This assembly is received within an outer cylindrical metal shell and annular members are disposed within an annular space between the shells with a felt mat disposed between the annular members and the inner cylindrical shell.
Abstract:
In a cylindrical elongated furnace for treating materials at high temperature in a gaseous atmosphere under high pressure, there is a vertical cylindrical pressure chamber forming a furnace space surrounded by a cylindrical heater, with an insulating sheath around the furnace space and the heater formed of a number of metal tubes with insulation between them. At least one of the metal tubes is suspended from a supporting member at the upper part of the insulating sheath and is provided at its lower part with a number of slots extending upwardly from the bottom edge.
Abstract:
A cylindrical elongated electric furnace placed in a pressure chamber for isostatic compression with its longitudinal axis substantially vertical. A heat-insulating mantle is provided for thermal isolation of the hot furnace chamber from the walls of the pressure chamber. This mantle is constructed of thin sheet metal arranged on a tubular frame and is free from insulating material of ceramic type. The sheet metal forms a plurality of cylindrical or conical layers located radially one outside the other and having gas-filled spaces between them.
Abstract:
Apparatus for spirally winding strip metal comprising a pressure roll for urging the strip metal into a coil, feed rolls for feeding the strip material to the pressure roll and combining with the pressure roll to increase the radius of the strip material immediately preceding its application to the coil, and means for supporting the coil as it is wound and for maintaining the coil in contact with the pressure roll.
Abstract:
A PRESSURE CHAMBER FOR THE ISOSTATIC COMPRESSION OF POWDER BODIES INCLUDES A HIGH PRESSURE CYLINDER WITH END CLOSURES PROJECTING INTO THE CYLINDER. THERE ARE TWO ARRANGEMENTS FOR SUPPLY PRESSURE MEDIA. ONE OF THE END CLOSURES IS A UNIT SURROUNDED BY THE PRESSURE MEDIUM WHICH OPERATES ON THE WORKPIECE, THIS UNIT PROJECTING INTO THE CYLINDER AND HAVING A DISPLACEABLE WALL WHICH SEPARATES THE TWO PRESSURE MEDIA.
