Abstract:
In a process for producing a metal containing catalyst composition suitable for effecting hydrocarbon hydrogenation and/or dehydrogenation reactions, a catalyst support comprising a porous crystalline material combined with an amorphous binder is treated with an anchoring material capable of bonding to the surface of the support and to a metal component. In addition, a precursor to the metal component is deposited on the surface of the catalyst support and then the treated catalyst support having the precursor deposited thereon is subjected to conditions effective to convert the precursor to the metal component and to cause the anchoring material to bond to the surface of the support and to the metal component.

Abstract:
A reduced metallic catalyst or pre-activated catalyst is formed by contacting a precursor catalyst or a reduced metallic catalyst with a modifier solution in the presence of a source of hydrogen and heat treating the precursor catalyst or the reduced metallic catalyst at super-atmospheric pressure to obtain the reduced metallic catalyst from the precursor catalyst or the pre-activated catalyst from the reduced metallic catalyst. A method of hydrogenating a hydrogenatable precursor includes providing a reduced metallic catalyst or the pre-activated catalyst prepared with modifier buffer and contacting the reduced metallic catalyst or pre-activated catalyst with the hydrogenatable precursor in the presence of hydrogen and, optionally, in the presence of a modifier solution.
Abstract:
Catalyst compositions comprising a phosphorous-promoted ZSM-5 component and a silica-containing binder, and methods for making and using same, are disclosed. More specifically, processes for making a catalyst for biomass conversion are provided. The process includes: treating a ZSM-5 zeolite with a phosphorous-containing compound to form a phosphorous-promoted ZSM-5 component; preparing a slurry comprising the phosphorous-promoted ZSM-5 component and a silica-containing binder; and shaping the slurry into shaped bodies. Such catalysts can be used for the thermocatalytic conversion of particulate biomass to liquid products such as bio-oil, resulting in higher bio-oil yields and lower coke than conventional catalysts.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cobalt/phosphorus-alumina catalyst in which cobalt is supported as an active component on a phosphorus-alumina support wherein phosphorus is supported on alumina surface. With a bimodal pore structure of pores of relatively different pore sizes, the catalyst provides superior heat- and matter-transfer performance and excellent catalytic reactivity. Especially, when Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) reaction is performed using the catalyst, deactivation by the water produced during the F-T reaction is inhibited and, at the same time, the dispersion and reducing property of cobalt and other active component are improved. Therefore, the cobalt/phosphorus-alumina catalyst for F-T reaction in accordance with the present invention provides good carbon monoxide conversion and stable selectivity for liquid hydrocarbons.
