Abstract: An industrial wastewater and hydrocarbon treatment system including of a plurality of reactors and treatment modules that allows the application of principles of chemistry and quantum physics, dissociating electrons from the atoms or chemical elements contained in the hydrocarbon contaminated water. This invention advantageously allows the separation of water and oil in an efficient way, through the use of electromagnetic pulses with low amperage, and a series of filters.

Abstract: The device provided relates to the field of water purification and disinfection. The device for water purification works by exposing water to an hydroxyl radicals and includes a corona discharge reactor, an ejector, at least one solenoid valve, control electronics, a mixing chamber. Inside the reactor there is a group of pin discharge electrodes, an earthen solid electrode, a chamber of saturated vapors of treated water, and the reactor is interfaced to the ejector. The device allows to obtain at the output of the device water with a high degree of purification, as from biological pollution, as well as to get rid of many undesirable chemical compounds present in the source water by their oxidation to safe products.

A method for extending batch operation into a second induction period with antiscalant injection is also disclosed herein, with the second induction period allowing for yet higher water recovery.

Abstract: An aqueous feed stream having a first total dissolved solids (TDS) level is flowed to a forward osmosis separator. The aqueous feed stream includes seawater. An aqueous draw stream having a second TDS level is flowed to the forward osmosis separator. The second TDS level is greater than the first TDS level. A disposal stream and an injection fluid stream is produced by the forward osmosis separator by allowing water to pass from the aqueous feed stream to the aqueous draw stream through a membrane of the forward osmosis separator based on a difference between the first TDS level and the seconds TDS level. The injection fluid stream is flowed from the osmosis separator to a subterranean formation.

Abstract: A solar powered sediment capture system is disclosed for collecting sediment at environment sites such as lakes and rivers. A mechanical pump directs water from a containment basin to an upper tank and an antistatic pressure tank, both which are elevated. Gravity flow from the upper tank generates vacuum to establish a syphon for drawing a flowable sediment slurry from an environmental borrow site to a filter. Effluent from the filter passes down to the containment basin, which has water level at a lower elevation than that of the borrow site. Anti-static and driller conduits permit gravity flow from the anti-static tank to suspend the sediment and to maintain the slurry at the syphon inlet in a flowable state.

Abstract: A pressure balancing system for two sides of an electrodialysis reversal (EDR) film stack includes two source water inlets, an EDR film stack, four pressure sensors, a variable speed pump, a one-way valve, a clean water outlet, a waste water outlet, and a control system module. With the four pressure sensors detecting water pressures at four ports on two sides of the EDR film stack and with the variable speed pump and the control system module adjusting water pressure at the waste water outlet, water pressure at the clean water outlet is equivalent to the water pressure at the waste water outlet. Accordingly, the water pressures on the two sides of the EDR film stack can be balanced, and service life and water purification efficiency of the EDR film stack can be improved.

Abstract: A system of fluid sterilization of fluid of vessel is provided, such as sterilization of ballast water for a water vessel. The system incorporates a heating section to heat pressurized fluid above prescribed thresholds for temperature, pressure, and duration (e.g., dwell time) to achieve desired levels of sterilization, including a heat exchanger to both (a) preheat fluid prior to entering the heating section and (b) cool outflow of the heating apparatus, in which fluid travels through the apparatus by operating valves forward and aft of the heating section in a controlled sequence to facilitate flow through the system while maintaining prescribed pressure and temperature profiles. The system operates within prescribed ranges of pressure and temperature to achieve the desired level of sterilization without need of maintaining a fixed temperature or a fixed pressure within any portion of the system, including the heating section.

Abstract: A system for flue-gas hydrate-based desalination using LNG cold energy belongs to the field of hydrate technology application. The CO2 in the flue-gas is captured based on the hydrate formation. Two stage formation chambers are set to improve the hydrate formation. The two steps to purify the hydrates respectively are the gas separation and the liquid separation. The two methods of hydrate dissociation to realize the recycling of the waste heat of flue-gas and the CO2 are the heat-exchanged and the exhausted. The present invention realizes the integrated CO2 capture and seawater desalination with a proper structure and a subtle system and solves the cold energy source for hydrate-based desalination by means of using LNG cold energy. The two stage formation chambers solve the capture of CO2 in the flue-gas and guarantee the hydrate formation amounts. The two types of dissociation chambers decrease the heat emission by using the waste heat of flue-gas and realize the recycling and storage of CO2. The system will not be affected by the changes of seasons and environments and has a strong carrying capacity for the flue-gas source change. It is a system with great application value realistic.

Abstract: A filter cartridge for operatively coupling to an appliance interface to treat a fluid, such as water, being supplied to the appliance. The interface comprises a bypass valve for actuating the interface between a bypass mode in which the fluid flowing through the interface does not flow through the filter cartridge and a treatment mode in which the fluid flowing through the interface is directed through the filter cartridge for treatment by the filter cartridge. The filter cartridge comprises a cartridge housing having a first end and a second end and extending along a housing longitudinal axis through the first end and the second end. A filter media is contained within the cartridge housing between the first end and the second end. The filter cartridge also has a first end cap on the first end of the cartridge housing and a second end cap on the second end of the cartridge housing. A bypass valve actuator is attached to the cartridge housing and extends distally to an actuator distal end. The bypass valve actuator is configured such that the actuator distal end actuates the bypass valve of the interface as the filter cartridge is coupled to interface.
