Abstract:
The present invention relates to compositions comprising flammable refrigerant, fire hazard-reducing agent, and optionally a lubricant suitable for use in a refrigeration or air conditioning apparatus. Further, the present invention relates to compositions comprising lubricant and fire hazard-reducing agent and methods for reducing flammability of flammable refrigerant, for delivering a fire hazard-reducing agent to a refrigeration or air conditioning apparatus, and for replacing a non-flammable refrigerant with a flammable refrigerant.
Abstract:
A threaded joint for steel pipes for use in an oil well which has improved galling resistance and which is protected from rusting comprises a pin and a box each having a contact surface including a threaded portion and an unthreaded metal contact portion. The contact surface of at least one of the pin and the box has a lower layer of a viscous liquid or semisolid lubricating coating comprising at least wax and a fatty acid alkaline earth metal salt and not containing a harmful heavy metal such as lead and an upper layer of a dry solid coating formed from an aqueous resin coating composition, an organic solvent type coating composition, or an ultraviolet curing coating composition.
Abstract:
The passage of a container along a conveyor is facilitated by applying to the container or conveyor aqueous compositions containing hardness ions. The compatibility of the aqueous compositions with PET bottles is improved when the ratio of hardness as CaCO3 to alkalinity as CaCO3 is greater than about 1 to 1.
Abstract:
Novel filter elements for sequestering acids from oil or fuel, the strong base flocs that comprise the filter elements, and methods of their preparation and use are disclosed. The filter elements comprise a mechanically linked interlocking fiber matrix interspersed with strong base particle flocs wherein the strong base particles constitute at least 30% by weight of the filter element. Certain filter elements may be useful for sequestering acids or neutralized acids in certain oils or fuels, for example, the acids originating in the combustion and lubrication system of an internal combustion engine or those contained in oils in an oil circulation system. Other filter elements may be useful for reducing oxidation of an oil.
Abstract:
A thin adhesive lubricating composition that can cover at least one thread and a screwing abutment of a threaded element of a component of a tubular threaded joint. The screwing abutment can bear against another abutment of another component of the tubular threaded joint in a terminal make up phase. The lubricating composition includes a matrix in which there is dispersed at least one braking additive selected to impart thereto, in addition to lubrication, a coefficient of friction to make it possible to obtain a torque on shoulder resistance value at least equal to a threshold value.
Abstract:
A composition that includes solid lubricant nanoparticles and an organic medium is disclosed. Also disclosed are nanoparticles that include layered materials. A method of producing a nanoparticle by milling layered materials is provided. Also disclosed is a method of making a lubricant, the method including milling layered materials to form nanoparticles and incorporating the nanoparticles into a base to form a lubricant.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to additives for use in lubricant compositions to processes for producing the additives, and to the use of the additives in lubricants and in systems that are lubricated. More specifically, the additive includes a capped particle comprising: (i) one or more inorganic core particles; and (ii) one or more multi-block copolymers attached to the inorganic particles. The multi-block copolymer includes at least one nonpolar polymer block interposed between two polar polymer blocks. One polar polymer block is attached to the core particle, and at least a portion of the another polar polymer block is not directly attached to the core particle. When used in a lubricant to lubricate a metallic surface of a workpiece, the capped particle preferably adheres to the metallic surface of the workpiece.
Abstract:
A threaded tubular component for drilling or working hydrocarbon wells, including at one of its ends a threaded zone produced on its outer or inner peripheral surface depending on whether the threaded end is male or female in type, in which at least a portion of the end is coated with at least one lubricating dry film including at least 65% by weight of a polyaryletherketone, and a process for depositing the film.

Abstract:
To provide a water-based lubricant for plastic working excellent in moisture absorption resistance and corrosion resistance, with which degradation in lubricating performances such as lubricity, workability and seizure resistance may not occur even under high-temperature/high humidity environments.A water-based lubricant for plastic working, comprising a resin component containing a copolymer or homopolymer of monomers having an ethylenically unsaturated bond, including at least maleic anhydride (A), an inorganic component (B), and a solid lubricating component (C), wherein maleic anhydride moieties of the resin component (A) are blocked with a nitrogen-containing compound at a blocking ratio of 10 to 80%, and unblocked maleic anhydride moieties are neutralized with an alkaline component at a degree of neutralization of 40 to 100%.
