The grease composition has low coefficient of friction, good performance for reducing induced thrust and high durability.
Abstract:
A heavy-duty lubricating grease is shown which includes a synthetic fluid base and a thickener system. The heavy-duty grease can be used in both rolling element and journal type rock bit bearings to drill in heavy-duty, high temperature applications, such as in the bearing structures of rock bits used to drill hot subterranean formations.
Abstract:
A lubricant including a compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein 4, 5 or 6 of the substituents X.sub.1 to X.sub.6 can be --SR, --SO.sub.2 R or --SOR and the other substituents can be --H, --Cl, --F, --OH, --SH, --R, --OR, --COOR or --OOCR wherein R is independently, at each occurrence, unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, of 1 to 18 carbon atoms, said substitution consisting of fluorine substitution of hydrogen, --O-- substitution of --CH.sub.2 --, --S-- substitution of --CH.sub.2 -- and mixtures thereof, said --O-- and --S-- substitutions being selected so that --O-- atoms are not directly bonded to each other. The invention further includes a method of lubricating with the lubricant.
Abstract:
A new organic lubricant for lubricating and cooling tools. The inventive composition is prepared by soaking an amount of okra in a volume of water for a length of time and then straining said okra from the mixture of water and okra so that the remaining mixture forms the organic lubricant. Optionally, the remaining mixture may further evaporated to form a concentrated version of the organic lubricant. Also optionally, preservatives may be added to the organic lubricant to delay the fermentation or decomposition of the organic lubricant.
Abstract:
A stable liquid suspension composition comprising a liquid carrier, a solid fatty acid or a salt thereof, and a solid particulate is disclosed wherein said liquid carrier is selected from the group consisting of oils, olefins, terpenes, glycols, esters, ethers, alcohols, and combinations of any two or more thereof and said liquid carrier, solid fatty acid or salt thereof, and solid particulate are each present in said composition in a stabilizing amount sufficient to produce a stable liquid suspension. Also disclosed is a stable liquid composition comprising a liquid carrier, an oil-soluble polymer, and a solid particulate wherein said liquid carrier is selected from the group consisting of liquid alkenes, terpenes, esters, and combinations of any two or more thereof and said liquid carrier, oil-soluble polymer, and solid particulate are each present in said composition in a stabilizing amount sufficient to effect the formation of a stable liquid suspension.
Abstract:
Aqueous structured surfactants, e.g., lamellar, or preferably spherulitic systems optionally containing suspended solids are used as functional fluids, such as drilling fluids, cutting fluids, hydraulic fluids, heat transfer fluids, construction muds and lubricants. A composition consisting essentially of: water; a surfactant or mixture of surfactants present in a concentration sufficient to form a mobile spherulitic or dispersed lamellar phase in the absence of an electrolyte; and a substantially water insoluble functional material, suspended in the composition, the composition being substantially free from electrolyte.
Abstract:
Lubricant composition containing spherical particles of a ceramic material dispersed in a supporting vehicle. The composition is used as a lubricant, metalworking cooling fluid, drilling fluid or drilling mud.
Abstract:
This invention provides oil-soluble complexes of oil-insoluble phosphorus-free strong mineral acids and alcohols. The complexes are useful antiwear additives in lubricating oils, particularly automatic transmission fluids.
Abstract:
An electrically conducting polymer thickened grease composition containing 1) a lubricating base oil, 2) a polymer thickener, 3) an electrically conducting component, 4) optional further additives, is provided. The polymeric thickener is a mixture of (1) a (co- or homo-)polymer of propylene with a weight average molecular weight >200,000 and (2) a (co- or homo-)polymer of propylene with a weight average molecular weight
Abstract:
A grease composition for constant velocity joints which consists essentially of: (a) a base oil; (b) an urea thickener; (c) molybdenum disulfide; and (d) a metal salt or an overbasic metal salt selected from the group consisting of metal salts or overbasic metal salts of oxidized waxes, petroleum sulfonates, alkyl aryl sulfonates, salicylate, and phenates. In addition to (a) to (d), it may further contain, (e) an extreme pressure agent selected from the group consisting of a metal-free sulfur-phosphorus extreme pressure agent and molybdenum dithiophosphate, or (f) molybdenum dithiocarbamate. The grease composition exhibits excellent wear-resistance and pitting-inhibitory effect.
