    Abstract: A method and system for controlling home-automation devices in a dwelling in which: a list of the home-automation devices is determined; each home-automation device is associated with an icon and with an alphanumeric identifier; an image of at least part of the dwelling is obtained; the image is displayed on the touch screen; a selection of an icon from a list of icons is detected; a positioning of the icon in the image and storage of the position of the icon determined is detected; a pressing on the image at the position of the stored icon is detected; and a command to the central unit intended for the home-automation device with which the icon is associated is generated and another icon linked to the icon the position of which is stored is displayed if the pressing at the position of the icon in the image is detected.

    Abstract: By transmitting a remote controlled device identifier through an optical signal emitted by a remote controlled device to a remote control pointed at the remote controlled device, the remote control is able to address the remote controlled device via a communication network and be paired with the remote controlled device. As the remote control just has to be pointed at the remote controlled device that is to be paired the pairing is intuitive. A verification unit can be added to the remote controlled device that transmits a challenge via the optical signal to the remote control. The remote control creates a response and transmits the response to the remote controlled device for verification by the verification unit. If the verification is successful the pairing is allowed. As the challenge can only be extracted from the optical signal, access to the room in which the remote controlled device is locate dis required in order to gain control over the remote controlled device. A hack solely over the communication network is prevented as the challenge is not available on the communication network.

    Abstract: An Augmented Reality (AR) device, places manual controls and virtual displays onto a surface of a controllable electronic device (CED) or next to the CED as viewed through the AR device allowing the user to manipulate the controls and view feedback via the virtual displays associated with the controllable device. The AR device overlays an image on a surface of the CED with virtual control objects and virtual feedback image(s) are displayed on a surface of the CED or adjacent to the CED. The user views the control objects and virtual displays on the surface and/or area adjacent to the CED. These control objects are manipulated via voice, hand, head, and eye gestures recognized by the AR device and will be able to see real time feedback displayed on the virtual displays.

    Abstract: A method for automatically transmitting an activation signal from a trainable transceiver to a remote electronic system, includes receiving, at a control circuit of the trainable transceiver, image data from an image data source; determining, using the control circuit, if the received image data matches one or more reference images stored in memory and associated with the remote electronic system; and determining, in response to a match between the received image data and the one or more reference images, if the trainable transceiver is approaching the remote electronic system. The method includes, in response to determining that the trainable transceiver is approaching the remote electronic system, formatting an activation signal to control the remote electronic system and transmitting, using a transceiver circuit, the activation signal formatted to control the remote electronic system.
