Abstract:
A camera 1 comprises first and second camera systems 3, 5. The first camera system 3 is a high resolution camera which captures images (so-called nullkey framesnull) at a relatively low rate, whilst the second camera system 5 is a low resolution camera which captures images (so-called nullvideo framesnull) at a higher rate. Accordingly, a plurality of video frames are captured between each key frame. An application program is provided, either in a PC 13 to which the frames are downloaded, or in the camera 1 itself. The main purpose of the application program is to decide which of the captured frames should be stored, and which should be discarded (i.e. by a deletion or replacement operation) thereby freeing-up memory. This is performed by means of the application program performing an analysis of the image content in the frames, assigning a quality factor to the image content based on the composition quality of the image content, and updating memory to remove frames which have a quality factor indicating a lower composition quality than a subsequently captured frame. Thus, only those frames having nullinterestingnull content will be saved, and those frames which are poor in terms of their content or composition will not occupy memory if a better frame is identified.
Abstract:
When the power supply is turned on, the value of a mode flag first is set to 0, the mode flag is evaluated, and processing of the record mode is executed. In the record mode, charging processing of the strobe is performed for a specified interval of time, and the strobe can be reliably caused to flash. Charging processing of the strobe is not performed while processing of reproduction (play) mode or another mode is being performed, and battery consumption is controlled.
Abstract:
In a digital still camera, when the reproducing mode is selected, an indication to the effect that the operation is in standby for reproduction is displayed on an indicating device, and if the command dial is not operated until 16 seconds elapses after the indication has been started, the supply of source voltage to the various parts of the camera is stopped, to achieve a reduction in power consumption. If the command dial is operated within 16 seconds, image signals are output to an external monitor and also an indication to the effect that reproduction is in progress is displayed on the indicating device. If the command dial has been operated within three minutes after reproduction of a given photographic frame has been started, reproduction of the following frame is performed, but if the command dial has not been operated until the three minutes have elapsed, the indication to the effect that the operation is in standby for reproduction is displayed again. If the sensitivity changeover switch and the command dial are operated together during reproduction or standby for reproduction, the photographic frame to be reproduced is determined in correspondence to the quantity and direction of the rotation of the command dial and the frame number of the frame thus determined is displayed on the indicating device.

Abstract:
A record and play-back system in a still video device, in which a picture signal and an audio signal associated therewith are recorded on a first track and a second track of a recording medium, wherein a first code signal and a second code signal are recorded together with the associated picture signal and the associated audio signal to discriminate that the respective picture signal and audio signal are recorded together with the corresponding audio signal or the picture signal. The second track is played-back when the first code signal is recorded on the first track upon play-back of the first track. The audio signal can be be post-recorded on the second track when no signal is recorded on the second track.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an electronic still camera to image a desired object through an imaging device, and provides a continuous-shot means with large-capacity recording. When image data RAW retrieved through predetermined imaging means 20 is data processed to record on a recording medium 10, the buffer memory 40 with high speed is provided which stores image data RAW temporarily.
Abstract:
In an electronic still camera, an imaging device outputs a high-resolution image signal representative of an optical image incident thereto via a lens. A movie processing section reduces, or thins, the high-resolution image signal to produce a corresponding low-resolution image signal on a real-time basis. The camera, therefore, implements the real-time display of a picture converted from the high-resolution image of a subject on a monitor.
Abstract:
There is provided an image memory system of a solid-state camera in which a solid-state memory device which is divided into a plurality of memory areas is used as an image recording medium, wherein digital data of one pixel is supplied in parallel to the solid-state memory device and recorded into the individual memory areas in the solid-state memory device every bit, one of the memory areas is selected, and binary image data is written into the selected memory area. With the system, a variety of image data can be stored at a high speed in the serial copy mode or document mode without sacrificing the serial copy speed.
Abstract:
A device for use in an apparatus for demodulating the signal reproduced from a recording medium in a still video camera or the like in which the phase of the demodulated signal is always accurately detected. Horizontal periods in which the respective line-sequential color difference signals B-Y and R-Y are present are discriminated, and a timer is operated during periods when the B-Y signal is present. Data is read from the reproduced modulated signal at predetermined points within a half cycle of the waveform of the signal as designated by outputs of the timer.
Abstract:
In a system including a still video camera and a playback device capable of being connected thereto, the playback device stored track information (such as data representing the field/frame recording and the envelope peak position) detected in a playback operation in a memory thereof corresponding to a track number. When the power of the playback device or the like is turned off, the track information is transferred from the playback device to the camera side and is stored in a memory of the camera side. When the playback device achieves thereafter a playback operation, the track information is again transferred to the playback device so as to be used for the playback operation. The track information can also be used in an erase operation on the camera side or in the playback device. In addition, track information used in a recording operation of the camera is stored in a memory thereof corresponding to a track member. When the playback device is connected to the camera and a mode thereof is changed over to a playback mode, the track information is transferred from the camera to the playback device, thereby storing the track information in a memory of the playback device. The track information is used when the playback device conducts a playback operation.
