    Abstract: An optical transmitter includes: a light source; a wavelength detecting unit configured to detect a wavelength of light emitted from the light source; a wavelength difference information generating unit configured to generate wavelength difference information representing a wavelength difference between a predetermined reference wavelength and a wavelength of the light detected by the wavelength detecting unit; a subcarrier count determination unit configured to determine a number of subcarriers to be used, based on the wavelength difference indicated by the wavelength difference information; a multi-valued level determination unit configured to determine, for each of the subcarriers, a multi-valued level which is a number of bits transmitted by a corresponding subcarrier of the subcarriers; a modulated signal generating unit configured to generate a modulated signal by modulating the subcarriers such that each of the subcarriers has the determined multi-valued level.

    Abstract: An optical receiver includes a demultiplexer configured to demultiplex, for each channel, optical signals input through a plurality of channels, a photoelectric converter having a number of light receivers corresponding to the plurality of channels, the photoelectric converter being configured to convert an optical signal into an electric signal for each channel, a monitor circuit configured to monitor, for each channel, an amplitude characteristic of the optical signal converted into the electric signal by the photoelectric converter, and a control circuit configured to control, based on a monitored result of the monitor circuit, a bias voltage to be applied to the light receiver such that an amount of variability in the amplitude characteristic between the channels is minimum or falls within a predetermined range.

    Abstract: An optical module includes a driver that generates an electric signal and an optical modulator that has a notch in which at least a portion of the driver is accommodated and performs optical modulation using an electric signal generated by the driver. The optical module also includes a first connector electrically connected to the driver in the notch of the optical modulator. The optical module further includes a second connector provided on a surface of the notch of the optical modulator, the surface being opposed to the first connector. The second connector is electrically connected to the optical modulator. Furthermore, the optical module includes a coaxial pin that is connected to the first connector and the second connector and transmits the electric signal generated by the driver to the optical modulator.
