Abstract:
A system for testing or debugging a system including the integrated circuit having an embedded logic analyzer. In one embodiment, the system includes a computing device coupled to the logic analyzer for receiving the at least one output. A user interface run on the computing device assigns an attribute to at least one signal associated with the logic analyzer, determines a new signal or value not provided by the logic analyzer, the new signal or value being based upon the at least one signal as received from the logic analyzer and upon a predetermined definition, and presents the new signal or value to a system user.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for printing a media sheet in a media processing device. The method includes aligning a first portion of a printhead of the media processing device to a print area of the media sheet. The method further includes printing the print area of the media sheet by traversing the printhead over the print area in a first direction. The printing is performed by the first portion. Further, the method includes aligning a second portion of the printhead to the print area by adjusting the media sheet relative to the printhead by an index distance in a direction perpendicular to the first direction. Thereafter, the method includes reprinting the print area by traversing the printhead over the print area in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The reprinting is performed by the second portion.
Abstract:
A milling system is disclosed for creating a cavity in a bone. The cavity has a cross section which has a generally triangular profile having a first side generally parallel with an axis of the bone and a second side forming an acute angle with the first side. The cavity is contiguous with a pre-existing conical cavity in the bone. The system comprises a drive shaft, a frame for carrying a cutter and a cutter for cutting the cavity. The drive shaft has a proximal end configured for coupling to a drive means and a distal end configured to form a portion of a drive joint for coupling the drive shaft to a cutter. The frame includes a shaft and a cutter mount for mounting a cutter at a first angle approximating the acute angle with respect to the shaft. The mount includes a bracket extending laterally from the shaft to a bearing configured to receive a portion of a cutter and maintain the received cutter oriented at the first angle during rotation. The cutter has a head configured to form a portion of a drive joint for coupling the cutter to a drive shaft. The drive shaft is coupled to the cutter to form the drive joint. The cutter is received in the mount at the first angle and the drive shaft forms a second angle with the longitudinal axis less than the first angle.
Abstract:
A method and an imaging apparatus for reducing print grain effect in an image to be printed by a printing device are disclosed. One or more flat field areas, each comprising at least one flat field pixel, are detected in the image. A color value of each detected flat field pixel in the one or more flat field areas is modified using a unique flat field optimized color lookup table. The modification of the color value of each flat field pixel in the image reduces the print grain effect in the image to be printed by the printing device.
Abstract:
An application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) is configured to perform image processing tasks on a printer or other multi-function device. The ASIC includes a processor, a dedicated cache memory, a cache controller and additional Static Random Access Memory (SRAM) normally employed in image processing tasks. This additional SRAM may be dynamically allocated as a cache memory when not otherwise occupied.
Abstract:
Digital images that are produced by an image forming device may be processed using an edge enhancement technique to reduce the effects of halftone color depth reductions. For each element in the original image, certain detail elements are classified by examining the magnitude of pixel intensity gradients between elements of interest in a first window applied at each element and other elements in the first window. If a first predetermined condition is satisfied, those elements locations are stored. After halftoning, a morphological filter may be applied to the same element locations in the halftone image to enhance the halftone image.
Abstract:
Cigarettes are manufactured using modified automated cigarette making apparatus. Those cigarettes possess smokable rods having paper wrapping materials having additive materials applied thereto as patterns. The additive material can be applied as a coating formulation in an off-line manner to a continuous paper sheet web that is later used for cigarette manufacture. The additive material can be applied as a coating formulation in an on-line manner to continuous paper web moving through an operating cigarette making machine. The coating formulation is applied to the paper web using roll applicator techniques, ink jet printing techniques or electrostatic precipitation techniques. Liquid coating formulation are curable, and are virtually absent of solvent or liquid carrier. Radiation, such as ultraviolet or electron beam radiation, is used to solidify and fix polymerizable liquid components of the coating formulation that have been applied to the paper web. Heating and subsequent cooling of the coating formulation used to fix solid components of the coating formulation that have been applied to the paper web. Registration techniques are used to ensure proper positioning of the additive material on the smokable rods so manufactured, and to ensure proper quality of those cigarettes.
Abstract:
A transportable modular flotation system with sections incorporating a decked supporting structure that is buoyed by heavy duty flotation tubes. The sections are coupled together with pre-tensioned ropes, straps or cables of High Modulus Fiber. The system is suitable for off-loading items from cargo ships in small harbors and onto remote beaches. One embodiment is a heavy-duty lightweight modular causeway system (LMCS™) that is rapidly deployable and recoverable from a Joint High Speed Vessel (JHSV). Other embodiments of the present invention may be deployable floating piers or docks; modular commercial causeways, and expedient means to cross environmentally sensitive areas such as marshes or wetlands without employing major earthmoving equipment. Embodiments may also be used for wet-gap crossings, such as currently served by modular bridges, such as the Army Dry Support Bridge (DSB).
Abstract:
An incentive system for viewing commercials can be used to provide incentives to consumers to view commercials rather than avoiding the commercials through the use of electronic devices. In accordance with one embodiment, the incentive system can reward a consumer to play a commercial that the consumer would not normally play. This is of use for example in a personal video recorder that normally can be configured to eliminate commercials; yet, in accordance with one embodiment can be configured to assist as part of the incentive system to optionally display commercials when a consumer is willing to play the commercial. Feedback about specific commercials can also be obtained from a consumer in accordance with one embodiment. And, reports about particular commercials can be generated and supplied to advertisers and broadcasters, for example.
Abstract:
The wood preservative is a compound that includes a water soluble wax that has a chemically basic pH that is about 9.5 to 13.5. The compound is blended with the wood being preserved. Subsequently, a silicate polymer with a basic pH that is chemically compatible with the wax pH and a viscosity of about 1 centipoise is further blended with the wood to form a matrix of wax and preservative that permeates the structure of the wood without chemically combining with the wood. The chips that form wood products of which oriented stand board is typical, are first dried to a moisture content of about 4% by weight and then blended with a resin to form with the wax a water repellant matrix for the wood preservative.
