Abstract: One variation of a method for deploying a robotic system to scan inventory within a store includes: retrieving generic recommended baseline scan frequencies assigned to a set of product types stocked in the store; annotating a map of the store according to generic recommended baseline scan frequencies and locations of the set of product types in the store; overwriting baseline scan frequencies assigned to locations in the store based on inputs from the user; accessing elapsed times since capture of last images of slots in the store, assigned to these product types, by the robotic system; calculating urgency scores for imaging these slots proportional to differences between elapsed times and scan frequencies; and calculating a scan route traversable by the robotic system to preferentially locate, within the field of view of the robotic system, locations in the store associated with higher urgency scores over locations associated with lower urgency scores.

Abstract: A method includes: accessing a first image captured at a first time; deriving a first in-stock condition of the slot at the first time based on product units of a product type occupying a slot, depicted in the first image, at the first time based on features detected in the first image; accessing a second image captured at a second, later time; deriving a second out-of-stock condition of the slot at the second time based on features detected in the second image; accessing a back-of-store inventory status of the product type at the second time; and triggering an increase in quantity of facings of the product type at the slot based on a) the first in-stock condition at the slot at the first time, b) the first out-of-stock condition at the slot at the second time, and c) presence of back-of-store inventory of the product type at the second.

Abstract: One variation of a method for deploying fixed cameras within a store includes: dispatching a robotic system to autonomously navigate along a set of inventory structures in the store and generate a spatial map of the store during a scan cycle; generating an accessibility heatmap representing accessibility of regions of the store to the robotic system based on the spatial map; generating a product value heatmap for the store based on locations and sales volumes of products in the store; accessing a number of fixed cameras allocated to the store; generating a composite heatmap for the store based on the accessibility heatmap and the product value heatmap; identifying a subset of inventory structures occupying a set of locations within the store corresponding to critical amplitudes in the composite heatmap; and generating a prompt to install the number of fixed cameras facing the subset of inventory structures in the store.

Abstract: One variation of a method for tracking stock level within a store includes: dispatching a robotic system to image shelving structures within the store during a scan cycle; receiving images from the robotic system, each image recorded by the robotic system during the scan cycle and corresponding to one waypoint within the store; identifying, in the images, empty slots within the shelving structures; identifying a product assigned to each empty slot based on product location assignments defined in a planogram of the store; for a first product of a first product value and assigned to a first empty slot, generating a first prompt to restock the first empty slot with a unit of the first product during the scan cycle; and, upon completion of the scan cycle, generating a global restocking list specifying restocking of a set of empty slots associated with product values less than the first product value.
