Abstract:
Planarization methods for maintaining planar surfaces in the fabrication of such devices as BAW devices and capacitors on a planar or planarized substrate are described. In accordance with the method, a metal layer is deposited and patterned, and an oxide layer is deposited using a high density plasma chemical vapor deposition (HDP CVD) process to a thickness equal to the thickness of the metal layer. The HDP CVD process provides an oxide layer on the patterned metal tapering upward from the edge of the patterned metal layer. Then, after masking and etching the oxide layer from the patterned metal layer, the patterned metal layer and surrounding oxide layer form a substantially planar layer, interrupted by small remaining oxide protrusions at the edges of the patterned layer. These small remaining oxide protrusions may be too small to significantly disturb the flatness of a further oxide or other layer or they may be further mitigated by the application of another HDP CVD oxide film.
Abstract:
Bulk acoustic resonators with multi-layer electrodes for Bulk Acoustic Wave (BAW) resonator devices. Various electrode combinations are disclosed. The invention provides a better compromise at resonant frequencies from 1800 MHz to 4 GHz in terms of keff2 and resistance than state of the art solutions using either Mo, or a bilayer of Al and W.

Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for storing and restoring digital data. In some implementations, a method is provided. The method includes detecting a remote storage device, prompting the user to use the detected remote storage device for backup operations, receiving a user input to use the detected remote storage device for backup operations, and automatically configuring backup operations using the remote storage device. Other embodiments of this aspect include corresponding systems, apparatus, computer program products, and computer readable media.
Abstract:
A power facility has at least one power element and a system monitors/controls at least a portion of the power facility. In the system, a field drop is coupled to each element for monitoring same, reporting status data, receiving control information, and controlling such element. A local area network (LAN) couples each field drop to a hub, and a data server is coupled to the hub. The data server receives the status data from each field drop and takes any appropriate action necessary in response thereto, and also allows a user to access any particular field drop of the system to read data for the corresponding element and issue control commands for the element to be carried out by the corresponding field drop.
Abstract:
A method for determining the location of a mobile unit tags uplink signals received at separate antennas with corresponding antenna tags. All of the uplink signals are combined into a single combined signal, which may be transmitted to a base station. One or more signal parts are selected from the combined signal, and these selected parts are decoded to determine their corresponding antenna tags. A location algorithm is applied to the decoded signal parts to determine a location of the mobile unit.
Abstract:
A gas valve for controlling the flow of gas to a burner. An actuator controls the flow of gas through the valve. A stepper motor operates the actuator. A first temperature sensor senses temperature of gas entering the valve. A second temperature sensor senses temperature of gas leaving the valve. A controller controls the stepper motor in response to the sensed temperatures. This gas valve provides universal single-stage, multi-stage and modulating gas flow control for appliances and furnaces.
Abstract:
A self-stowing canoe transporting apparatus which enables manual transport of a canoe over rough terrain in an upright position. The transporting apparatus includes a dual-wheeled dolly with a cradle having contoured constrained abutment portions which support the aft bottom or keel of a canoe. The transporting apparatus is attachable to the canoe without drilling, welding, use of adhesives, or any form of modification of the canoe. The dolly is pivotally attached at the stern of the canoe enabling rotational motion of the dolly to an aft deck stowage position during use of the canoe on the water. In portaging, the cradle rotates under the canoe, and secure engagement of the cradle with the canoe aft bottom or keel is accomplished with tensioning straps.
Abstract:
In an orthotic walker, mechanism is provided to bias alternate motion of a user's legs. The mechanism may be a reciprocating bar at hip level, or at least one strap ends of which are attached to leg braces and the bight passing round a fixed frame member. A stirrup mechanism may be pivoted at an "ankle joint" and the pivotal motion may be limited to avoid toe down position. The stirrup may have a clamp for a shoe. Brake mechanism may be movable between operative and inoperative positions. In the operative position rearward rolling is disallowed while forward motion is allowed.
Abstract:
A prosthesis comprising:(a) a gripping member;(b) an operating lever mounted to pivot about a pivot axis and operatively connected to the gripping member;(c) a power unit including an electric motor, and a drive shaft rotatable by said electric motor;(d) means connecting the drive shaft to the operating lever at a region spaced from the said pivot axis of the operating lever, said connecting means being constructed so that when the drive shaft rotates the connecting means (and also the region of the operating lever connected to the shaft) travels axially along the shaft thereby causing the operating lever to pivot about its pivot axis; and(e) means pivotally mounting said power unit to allow the connecting means to move along an arcuate path about the pivot axis during pivoting of the operating lever.
