Abstract: Computing devices and peripherals having a dynamic curvature are disclosed. The base of a laptop can curve as the laptop lid is opened due to left and right base portions being pulled inward to a bisector of the base. Base portions can be pulled inwards by a bending strap pushed upwards by a lifter spring, by base hinges that rotate inwards, or a shape memory allow wire laced around pulleys that contract when heated. A display device with dynamic curvature can curve due to a rack and pinion linear actuator that extends or shortens adjustable rods housed in the display support. A base or display can be curved based on the context of the computer device or in response to certain events. The curvature of a base or display can be tunable by a user. Curved bases and displays can reduce wrist and eye strain.

Abstract: Embodiments include apparatuses, methods, and systems for computer assisted or autonomous driving (CA/AD). An apparatus for CA/AD may include a sensor interface, a communication interface, and a driving strategy unit. The sensor interface may receive sensor data indicative of friction between a road surface of a current location of a CA/AD vehicle and one or more surfaces of one or more tires of the CA/AD vehicle. The communication interface may receive, from an external road surface condition data source, data indicative of friction for a surface of a road section ahead of the current location of the CA/AD vehicle. The driving strategy unit may determine, based at least in part on the sensor data and the data received from the external road surface condition data source, a driving strategy for the CA/AD vehicle beyond the current location of the CA/AD vehicle. Abstract: A computing device includes a flexible display screen, a housing to house at least one processor device and at least one memory element, and a first wing to support a side portion of the display screen. The front face of the housing includes a center portion of the display screen. The first wing is connected to the housing by a hinge, the first wing configured to swivel about an axis defined by the hinge. The hinge is configured to lock the first wing in at least two wing positions, a first of the wing positions supports the side portion of the display screen in a first orientation, a second of the wing positions supports the side portion of the display screen in a second orientation, and the side portion of the display screen is active in the first orientation and hidden in the second orientation.
