A recording medium holder for accommodating a recording medium which records information is disclosed. The recording medium holder has an accommodating member which forms a first accommodating region being capable of accommodating at least one sheet of the recording medium to be held and a second accommodating region being capable of accommodating at least one recording device for recording relevant data generated in relation to the processing of information by an information processing apparatus. The accommodating member includes a recording medium holding portion for positioning and holding the recording medium to be held in the first accommodating region and a recording device holding portion for positioning and holding the recording device to be held in the second accommodating region.

Abstract:
A security system for preventing disc players from being used with unauthorized software is disclosed. The security code is stored through modulating an offset of the physical position of a plurality of data bits from a nominal track position. A two part optical read head provides an RF signal corresponding to the presence of a physical offset modulation. The RF signal is present when there is a physical offset of the data bits defining a first logical state and the absence of the RF signal defines a second logical state. A digital security code is encoded and decoded in this manner. A system for encoding a security code through modulating the physical offset of a plurality of data bits from a nominal track position is also disclosed.

A method for processing a digital signal produced by digitizing an analog signal such as a musical instrument sound signal, and an apparatus for producing sound source data. When the input signal contains a periodically repetitive waveform portion, the fundamental frequency and its high harmonic components of the input signal is extracted by a comb filter prior to signal processing which takes advantage of the periodicity of the input signal. The fundamental frequency or pitch is detected by performing Fourier transform to produce frequency components, phase matching these frequency components and performing inverse Fourier transform. When extracting a repetitive waveform portion or so-called looping domain, such looping domain having the highest similarity in waveform in the vicinity of both ends of the domain is selected. When the bit compression of digital signal data is performed by selecting a filter with blocks each consisting of plural samples as units, a pseudo signal is affixed to the input signal, before the start point of the input signal, which pseudo signal will cause a filter of the lowest order to be selected. The looping domain is set so as to be a whole number multiple of the block which serves as the unit for bit compression, and the parameters of the looping start block are formed on the basis of data of the start and the end blocks. By applying a part or the whole of the signal processing method to a sound source data forming apparatus, sound source data may be formed which is reduced in the looping noise and error caused by data compression and which is of superior sound quality.

A video data processing apparatus for performing video data compression in which one picture image is divided into a predetermined number of blocks of pixels and video data in each block of pixels are compressed by predetermined processing to thereby reduce the amount of video data representing the image that need be stored in a memory. The processing proceeds by determining if plural blocks consist of the same pixel data and if so, the pixel data for only one block is stored. The pixel data for the other blocks which are not stored but which consist of the same pixel data are obtained by reading out the pixel data of the block which is stored, whereby the amount of data to be stored in a memory is substantially reduced.
