    Abstract: A virtual image display device includes: an image light generating device; a projection optical system configured to project image light emitted from the image light generating device; a folding mirror configured to reflect, in an intersecting direction, the image light from the projection optical system; a semi-transmissive mirror configured to reflect a portion of the image light from the folding mirror; and a concave surface mirror configured to reflect, toward the semi-transmissive mirror, the image light reflected at the semi-transmissive mirror to form an exit pupil, in which an optical axis of the image light extending from the image light generating device to the folding mirror is disposed between a first virtual extension plane obtained by imaginarily extending the semi-transmissive mirror and a second virtual extension plane obtained by imaginarily extending the concave surface mirror.

    Abstract: A virtual image display apparatus includes a display element, an optical element configured to pass therethrough image light emitted from the display element, a reflecting mirror configured to reflect the image light emitted from the optical element, a see-through hologram mirror of a see-through type configured to reflect the image light, emitted from the reflecting mirror, to a pupil position, and a linear diffraction element of a transmissive type arranged on an optical path from the optical element to the hologram mirror. The optical element, the reflecting mirror, and the see-through hologram mirror are arranged to form an off-axis system, and the linear diffraction element compensates wavelength dispersion caused by the see-through hologram mirror at an off-axis surface of the off-axis system.

    Abstract: A head-mounted display includes a display device, a projection optical member, a prism member, and a light condensing and reflecting surface. The prism member includes a first prism, and a second prism that is disposed further toward an exit pupil side than the first prism. The first prism includes an incident surface, a reflection surface that totally reflects the image light, and a first joining surface that is joined with the second prism via a semi-transmissive reflection surface. The second prism includes a second joining surface that is joined with the first joining surface, and an opposing flat surface that is disposed parallel to the reflection surface to face the reflection surface and configured to transmit the image light, reflected by the semi-transmissive reflection surface and then by the light condensing and reflecting surface and thereafter passing through the semi-transmissive reflection surface.
