Abstract:
Methods and a device for improving wound healing and for improving the effects of rehabilitative therapies in patients with cognitive and motor deficits are provided. Repeated regimens of remote ischemic conditioning are performed. Markers of ischemia are monitored in the tissue. The remote ischemic conditioning regimen may be adjusted based on the monitoring results. The remote ischemic conditioning regimen can be performed at a hospital, medical clinic, healthcare facility, or at a subject's home.
Abstract:
An apparatus and system are disclosed for manipulating soft tissue. The apparatus includes a support member and a raised member. The support member includes a support surface disposed between a first end of the support member and a second end of the support member. The support member is elongated in a lengthwise direction between the first end of the support member and the second end of the support member. The raised member includes an outer surface disposed opposite an inner surface. The inner surface is supportable by the support surface of the support member. The outer surface of the raised member is configured to rotate along at least a portion of a user's body in response to movement of the raised member along the user's body. The raised member is repositionable along the support surface of the support member in the lengthwise direction.
Abstract:
A cushion for a patient interface includes two or more bladders arranged in concentric relation. Each of the bladders includes a face-contacting portion adapted to engage the patient's face, and each of the bladders is adapted to be pressurized independently from one another. At least one of the bladders is an active bladder that is pressurized to at least a sealing pressure to form a continuous seal with the patient's face in use.
Abstract:
A skin treatment device combines an RF treatment arrangement with a mechanical massage arrangement, preferably with the massage device in the form of an annular massage head encircling and rotating around the RF applicator. Also disclosed are configurations with a liquid dispenser for delivering a liquid to the skin under the device. According to one option, the skin contact surface of the RF applicator itself is provided in part by a rolling ball liquid applicator.
Abstract:
A massager device providing multiple massaging effects with thermal enhancement is disclosed. The device comprises a cylindrical body with a first end which is closed and a second end which is open, a first cap coupled to the first end, and a second cap coupled to the second end, an assembly of DC vibrator embedded in the first end, and a switch embedded in the first cap. The cylindrical body comprises an inner layer and an outer layer. The inner layer is made of ABS materials. The outer layer is made of silicone rubber and comprises a base sheet and an array of evenly spaced identical elastic nipples positioned outwardly with their bottoms embedded in the base sheet. The first cap and the second cap have substantially identical exterior shape and size, each of which having an inner layer made of ABS materials and a silicone rubber ring coupled to the inner layer's exterior. The hollow space made by the cylindrical body and the second cap may contain thermal media such as water or gel. In operation, the user may enjoy massaging effects from the silicone rubber nipples, the silicone rubber rings on the both ends, as well as the high temperature or lower temperature controlled by the thermal media contained in the hollow space.
Abstract:
Gelatinous foam, coated paper, fabric, and polymer materials combined with the Colloidal Silver or Gold additive to formulate products with antimicrobial surfaces. Some embodiments of the present invention can include gelatinous materials selected from a group consisting of thermosetting polymer, Styrene-Ethylene-Butadiene-Styrene polymer (SEBS), Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE), and Polyurethane (PU) gelatin with and without a raised geometry on an outer surface and in any shape. The various embodiments include coated polymer sheets, polymer trays, bamboo and/or cotton towels and fabric, polymer foam, or polymer mats containing nano-silver or nano-gold in an scheduled and organized manner (with input/requests from the customer) to create permanent or semi-permanent anti-microbial surfaces.
Abstract:
This invention relates generally to apparatus and methods for tightening tissue of the female genitalia by heating targeted connective tissue with radiant energy, while cooling the mucosal epithelial surface over the target tissue to protect it from the heat. Embodiments include a handle and treatment tip that has both an energy delivery element and a cooling mechanism. The handle may be a two-handed handle allowing control even while rotating and maneuvering the treatment around the genital opening. The apparatus or system may also include an integrated controller, which may confirm tissue contact without applying RF energy, based only on the temperature of the applicator and the time since the last application of energy from the applicator.
Abstract:
A heated massage ball apparatus has a ball that may be heated retained within a grip that allows for the ball to rotate freely therewithin. The ball may be heated, for example, in a microwave oven, and may be substantially hollow and filled with a liquid that retains heat. The grip is pliable enough to allow the forced insertion or ejection of the ball past its widest circumference. An opening in the bottom of the base may facilitate the removal of the ball from the base, whereby the user inserts a finger therein to force the ball out of the grip. A heating base can accept the grip and ball and provide heat to the ball, such as a heated conductor that extends through the bottom opening in the grip and heats the ball by direct contact and thermal conduction. An electrical circuit may be included that provides on/off and temperature controls, a heating element, a temperature-sensing means, a thermostat, and a display for indicating a target and current ball temperatures.
Abstract:
The invention claimed herein presents a therapeutic device for hands and wrists that provides massage, thermal and electrical stimulation therapy. For full inner and outer hand therapy, upper housing 4 is closed and the user's hands and wrists are placed between lower panel 8 and upper panel 10. Upper housing is lifted to the open position to provide palm and inner wrist therapy only. Therapy session begins automatically when hands are rested on lower panel 8. Electrical power provided by batteries 22 or power cord 24 energizes vibrator mechanisms 12, heating/electrical stimulation elements 14. The device deactivates when the hands are removed or via timer circuit of control unit 42. Gel packets 16 can be mounted onto lower panel 8 with retainer bars 18, which also allow user to vary firmness and elevation under the hands/wrists by altering the distribution of gel within the packet.
Abstract:
Improved massage devices are disclosed. The massage devices comprise a housing having a hollow chamber for containing a fluid. The housing comprises a first member, an opposite second member and a plurality of lobes. Each one of the plurality of lobes has a hollow portion. Each one of the plurality of lobes is coupled to the first member and the opposite second member. A portion of the first member defines a plurality of protuberances. An inner portion of the first member and an inner portion of the second member define a gap located between the first member and the second member. The hollow chamber is defined by the gap and the contiguous hollow portion of each one of the plurality of lobes. The fluid contained in the housing of the massage devices is heated or cooled to produce enhanced massaging relief for a body of a person.
