    Abstract: A compact filter element in which the end faces of a plurality of nonwoven filter layers (3) are fixedly integrated into a cover (4) and in which the oncoming flow of fluid to be filtered is deflected in the cover (4) in such a way that the fluid flows respectively into every second or alternating area between two adjacent nonwoven filter layers (3) and flows through the nonwoven filter layers (3) into the intervening spaces between the spaces between filter layers in to which it initially flows, from which intervening spaces it exits the filter element.

The filter element includes a bypass valve carried by the filter element that operates independent of and free of interaction with the filter base. Methods include providing an entirely new bypass valve for the filter assembly by inserting a filter element including a complete bypass valve into the filter base such that bypass valve structures of the filter base are rendered useless or superfluous.

    Abstract: The invention concerns a filter element as well as a liquid filter wherein the filter element is axially insertable into the filter housing (10, 11). The filter element (21) effects after mounting the closure of a non-return device for the raw liquid to be filtered with at least one non-return diaphragm (27). The non-return diaphragm (27) is attached to a terminal disk (24) of the filter element (21) in such a way that it effects an axial and/or a radial sealing action of the raw side (32) relative to the clean side (33) in the filter housing (10, 11). On the filter housing (10, 11) a drainage opening (18) for liquid is provided that is closed off by an additional sealing surface (31, 49) of the non-return diaphragm (27) when the filter element (10, 11) is installed.

    Abstract: A vacuum filtration apparatus for detecting microorganisms and particulates in liquid samples. The apparatus includes a base, an absorbent pad, a filter means, a funnel and a lid.     Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid filter for an internal combustion engine. The filter has a housing, a removable cover for closing the housing, and a replaceable filter insert that has a filter surface through which liquid can flow. The filter surface defines a boundary between a flow channel on the filtered side and a flow channel on the unfiltered side of the filter. A non-return valve allows the liquid to flow through the filter at pressure conditions that prevail when the engine is running. When the engine is shut off, the non-return valve prevents flow of liquid through the filter, thereby holding within the filter housing the liquid that was in the filter when the engine was shut off. The non-return valve is placed in the flow channel on the filtered side.

    Abstract: A filter element is removably positionable within a filter housing that includes a standpipe extending therewithin and provided with a flow control valve. The filter element comprises a tubular filter media, a first end cap, a second end cap longitudinally spaced from the first end cap, and a center tube extending between the first and second end caps.
