Abstract:
An elevator rope including a rope main body; and a covering resin layer that covers the periphery of the rope main body and comprises a molded product of a composition which composition is produced by mixing a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, a thermoplastic resin other than the thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer and an isocyanate compound having two or more isocyanate groups per molecule; a rope main body impregnated with an impregnating solution comprising a hydroxy compound having two or more hydroxy groups per molecule and an isocyanate compound having two or more isocyanate groups per molecule and having a lower viscosity than a melt viscosity of the composition for forming the covering resin layer is used as the rope main body; the elevator rope has a stable friction coefficient that does not depend on temperature or sliding velocity.
Abstract:
A belt for driving systems, including a belt body made of a polymeric material having elastic properties, which comprises a cover layer as a back of the belt and a foundation having a force-transmission zone, and, a tensile reinforcement embedded in the belt body. The belt body is made of at least two different materials A and B, namely: a first material A, which is provided with a fire-inhibiting additive and is used in the belt body everywhere the high mechanical properties are not required; and, a second material B, which contains little or none of a fire-inhibiting additive and is used in the area of the belt body that is subjected to great mechanical stress. The belt is used in particular as a tensile element for elevator systems.
Abstract:
A large-sized compound polyurethane elastomer submarine anchor cable to hold steady a offshore platform within a specific range defined by the anchors is comprised of outer layer made of polyurethane elastomer and carbon fiber mixed at a certain ratio, compressed and wrapping around aramid fiber or kelvar fiber or ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber and a core of synthetic fiber rope with molecular malleability; the rope exposed from both ends of the cable each in a loop; and each loop having one or multiple layers of sheath to wrap around the rope at where closer to a tie on each end.
Abstract:
This invention is a cut resistant article comprising a cut resistant jacket surrounding a less cut resistant member. The jacket comprises a fabric of yarn and the yarn consists essentially of a high strength, longitudinal strand having a tensile strength of at least 1 GPa. The strand is wrapped with another fiber or the same fiber.
Abstract:
A suspension cable is encased in a metal pipe formed from a metal strip wound in a series of adjacent helical windings on the cable. The longitudinal edges of adjacent windings are connected by a continuous tight fold.
Abstract:
A load-bearing elevator suspension member includes a plurality of tension members and a compressible jacket at least partially encasing the plurality of tension members. The jacket includes a jacket base material mixed with a corrosion inhibitor that establishes a corrosion-inhibiting coating on the tension members. A method of making such a load-bearing elevator suspension member includes mixing the corrosion inhibitor into a thermoplastic jacket material and applying the resulting mixture to bare steel tension members. As the corrosion inhibitor in the mixture contacts the tension members, the corrosion inhibitor establishes a corrosion-inhibiting coating on the tension members.
Abstract:
A seating assembly for a passenger aircraft. The seat system may include at least one passenger seat and a seat back tray assembly mounted onto the back of the passenger seat and movable between a first storage position and a second deployed position. The tray assembly may include (i) a tray having a first and second attachment arm mounted onto the tray for installing the tray onto the back of a seat system; (ii) a sliding mechanism installed on the first and second attachment arms adapted for providing movement between a first forward position and a second aft position to a seated passenger parallel to the first and second attachment arms; and (iii) an alignment mechanism attached to the sliding mechanism for maintaining the tray in a horizontally aligned relationship during the movement. The seat system may further include a PED holder adapted to hold a personal electronic device.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a high-strength fibre rope for hoisting equipment like cranes having a rope core (11) comprising high-strength synthetic fibres or strands (4) as well as a sheathing (2) surrounding the rope core (11) and indicating wear, wherein the sheathing (2) has at least a sheath layer, in which the synthetic fibres having different wear resistance and/or tensile strength and/or bending fatigue are interwoven with each other.
Abstract:
An illustrative method of making an elevator load bearing member having at least one elongated tension member at least partially covered by a jacket includes mixing a flame retardant with a polymer material. The flame retardant is selected from a group consisting of (i) a halogen-free melamine based intumescent comprising melamine cyanurate, melamine-phosphate, melamine pyrophosphate or melamine polyphosphate in an amount up to about 20% by weight of the thermoplastic polymer or (ii) a filled polymer having a nanoscale filler chemically bonded to a matrix phase. Applying the mixed flame retardant and polymer material to the tension member forms a jacket of a desired shape.
Abstract:
A jacket for a load-bearing, lengthy body, wherein the jacket is comprised of a plurality of braid elements which, when braided, enclose at least a portion of the lengthy body, and wherein the braid element is comprised of a braided ribbon. A method of forming the jacket is also described.
