Abstract:
A damper unit includes a reel having a spool on which a string is wound and a peripheral rack, and a base rotatably supporting the reel and having a holding portion. A spiral spring has an inner end connected to the holding portion and an outer end connected to the reel for accumulating a biasing force to cause the reel to rotate in a string winding direction in response to rotation of the reel in a string withdrawing direction. A damper device has a rotatable shaft integral with a gear. When the string is pulled out, the spiral spring is resiliently deformed to displace the reel to one side of the base to engage the peripheral rack of the reel with the gear of the damper device.
Abstract:
The provision of a rotational speed controller which is capable of increasing braking torque without a corresponding increase in size, and easily outputting braking torque assumed in the design, and minimizing variations in the braking torque. A casing 6 incorporates a shaft 7 inserted therein, a first rotor 8 rotated together with the shaft 7 in one piece, and a second rotor 10 rotated through the medium of the first rotor 8 and a planet gear 9. A first rotation mechanism for rotating the first rotor 8 is the shaft 7. A second rotation mechanism for rotating the second rotor 10 is a planetary gear mechanism operated in association with the rotation of the first rotor 8.
Abstract:
A control panel is retractably received within a recess in an appliance housing. The panel may be moved from an extended position wherein the control panel is exposed outside the cabinet to a retracted position wherein the control panel is enclosed within the recess. A spring urges the control panel to its extended position, and a latch is provided for releasably holding the control panel in its retracted position.
Abstract:
A method for opening a door on a storage bin is provided, where the storage bin includes a door pivoted to the storage bin for movement between open and closed positions, and a biasing device operably connected to the storage bin and the door for biasing the door as the door nears the open and closed positions. The biasing device includes a spring and a T-shaped shifting anchor connected to the spring that translates and changes a torque arm of a linear spring as the door is moved so that the spring creates a force sufficient to close the door during a last portion of door closure movement and so that the spring creates a force sufficient to open the door during a last portion of door opening movement.
Abstract:
A magneto-rheological clutch assembly for use in an electromechanical system. The clutch assembly includes a motor having a shaft that is coupled to a magneto-rheological clutch. There is also included a gear plate that is attached to the clutch, as well as being connected to a contact plate and pinion gear. The pinion gear engages a corresponding connection of a power operator system. The magneto-rheological clutch prevents damage to the motor power operator system and panel by simulating a slipping condition when a load exceeding a specified tolerance is applied to the panel.
Abstract:
A front lid opening and closing assist which enables an easy and safe operation of opening and closing a front lid of a keyboard instrument. A buffer in the front lid opening and closing assist has a first damping mechanism for damping the front lid when pivoted from a neutral position to an open position, and a second damping mechanism for damping the front lid when pivoted from the neutral position to a closed position. When the front lid is pivoted beyond the neutral position, it spontaneously pivots toward the open or closed position by its own weight. However, this motion is damped by the first and second damping mechanisms, which results in a slowed pivot motion of the front lid. As a result, a user can safely open or close the front lid relative to a back lid, with only minimal force for supporting the front lid.
Abstract:
A door closer includes casing fixedly fastened to a door frame, a hydraulic cylinder installed in the casing and holding a hydraulic fluid, a coupling block installed in one end of the hydraulic cylinder, the coupling block having a pivot shaft connected to a door, and a reciprocating mechanism coupled to the coupling block, fluid velocity regulating valves installed in the casing and controlled to adjust the velocity of the hydraulic fluid flowing in the casing, the reciprocating mechanism including a double-threaded adjustment rod for adjusting the spring power of compression springs thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a damping mechanism capable of varying the moving speed of an openable door or the like in stages as necessary. Such damping mechanism includes a damping body (1) installed with a damper mechanism and allowing a rotative shaft (3) to protrude therefrom; a plurality of pinions (4, 5) provided on the rotative shaft (3) and each having a different diameter from one another; and a rack member (2) including a plurality of racks (7, 8) respectively engaging with the pinions (4, 5).
Abstract:
A control device for a door closer is arranged to control flow of pressure medium within a body part of the door closer and comprises an adjustment member supported by threads on the body part of the door closer, and in cooperation therewith, a separate substantially hollow control member, which is arranged to restrict the flow of the pressure medium when necessary. Turning of the adjustment member with respect to the body part of the door closer brings about movement of the control member in the axial direction of the control device for providing the desired control. The control member is arranged to be attached to the adjustment member in the radial direction so that movement of the control member with respect to the adjustment member in the axial direction is prevented.
Abstract:
A door assembly which includes a door that slides open and closed to alternatively expose and cover components of a computer system. The door assembly includes a rack and pinion system that prevents racking of the door. The non-racking feature allows for the door to be wider than prior art doors such that more components may be easily accessed by a computer user. The door assembly also includes a spring assembly for automatically closing the door, a dampener for moderating the movement of the door, and a latching mechanism that holds the door open. In one embodiment the latch mechanism is a push-push latch and the spring of the spring assembly is a constant force spring.
