Abstract:
A card actuated automated banking machine (152, 198, 200) includes a plurality of transaction function devices. The transaction function devices include a card reader (170), a printer (174), a bill dispenser (176), a display (182), a check imaging device (186), and at least one processor (190). The machine is operative, responsive to receiving a check and certification data, to dispense cash in exchange for the check. The person presenting the check to the machine need not provide user identifying inputs through input devices of the machine in order to receive cash for the check. Furthermore, prior to accepting the check as a payment, the person can communicate with at least one computer (204) through at least one consumer interface device (208) to verify that the check is payable for the check amount.
Abstract:
A card actuated automated banking machine (10) is operative to carry out financial transactions responsive to data included on user cards. The banking machine includes a user interface (15) including a display (24). The user interface includes a card reader (16) which is operative to read data on user cards which identify at least one of user and a user's financial accounts. A fascia of the machine includes a keypad (404, 438, 458) through which users input confidential data. Covers (400, 422, 430) prevent unauthorized persons from viewing confidential inputs to the keypad. Authorization signals assure that the display is operating in a manner that provides appropriate user instructions. A visual indicator is operative to indicate to a user that keypad inputs are being encrypted. Alternatively a touch screen display module (608) is operative to securely receive manual inputs and/or card data.
Abstract:
An automated banking machine is operable to cause financial transfers responsive to data read from data bearing records. The machine includes a card reader that can read from cards, user data that corresponds to financial accounts. The machine can operate responsive to the read card data to carry out transactions that transfer and/or allocate funds between accounts. The machine can provide a transaction receipt. The machine includes a cash dispenser to dispense cash to machine users. Value of dispensed cash can be assessed to an account which corresponds to read card data. The machine also includes a check acceptor device that can receive checks from users. The machine can image a received check and then read check data from the check image. An account determined from read card data can be credited the amount of the check.
Abstract:
An envelope-free deposit mechanism of a transaction machine receives a deposit from an account holder. The deposit comprises papers includes a combination of cash and checks. The deposit mechanism scan images from the cash and checks. For each paper, it is determined whether the paper is a check or cash. The determining is performed based on a characteristic of the paper scanned by the deposit mechanism.
Abstract:
A system includes an ATM-related processor configured to detect a vehicle approach. The processor is also configured to wirelessly connect to a vehicle computing system (VCS). The processor is additionally configured to validate a vehicle as a present-vehicle. Also, the processor is configured to receive account and vehicle identifying information. The processor is also configured to validate an account as authorized for a transaction in conjunction with the vehicle. The processor is further configured to provide transaction services to the vehicle over the wireless connection, such that the user can interact with an ATM through use of an in-vehicle display.
Abstract:
In an example embodiment, there is disclosed herein a picker that is operable to separate an individual sheet from a stack of sheets. The picker has a first rotatable picker member that includes a first high friction peripheral arcuate segment, where the first picker member is rotatable about an axis, a second rotatable member that includes a second high friction peripheral arcuate segment, wherein the second picker member is rotatable about the axis, and a drive in operative connection with the first and second rotatable picker members. The stack includes a bounding sheet having a sheet face bounding a side of the stack. The first and second arcuate segments are operable to concurrently engage the sheet face. The first and second picker members are operable to be separately rotationally movable about the axis responsive to operation of the drive.
Abstract:
In an example embodiment, a document holding cassettes that can be used in an automated banking machine that includes circuitry that is wirelessly powered through inductive coupling. The cassette can wirelessly communicate with the automated banking machine through induction.
Abstract:
In accordance with an example embodiment, there is disclosed herein an externally accessible headphone jack that is suitable for use with an automated banking machine such as an ATM. The headphone jack is configured to be releasably, electrically connectable to portable audio output devices. The headphone jack includes an opening external of the machine that is configured to receive electrical connector plugs therein. A jack housing is located within the automated banking machine, wherein the jack housing extends below the opening and bounds an interior area, wherein the interior area houses at least one electrical contact configured for releasable electrical connection with electrical connector plugs. The jack housing includes a drain opening therein below the at least one electrical contact that is configured to drain water from the interior area of the jack housing.
Abstract:
A banking system comprises automated banking machines which include a card reader, check imaging device, and cash dispenser. Each system machine can cash a code-correlated check in exchange for receiving both the check and the code assigned to the check, without requiring any user identifying input through the machine's user input devices as a condition for cashing the check. The system allows a potential recipient of a personal check to call in a given code to a system computer, which can verify whether the check is backed by funds reserved for the check amount and whether the check can be anonymously cashed. From the call the system computer can obtain the mobile phone's GPS location to determine the system machine nearest to the phone. When informing the phone user that a check is as good as cash, the system computer can also provide directions to that nearest system machine.
